A striking retail or hospitality counter is central to an outlet’s design and success – and should always tell a good story. Even better when the story is an ethical and sustainable one, that focuses on recycling waste materials and reducing the carbon footprint of the outlet.

Focused primarily on brands who put sustainability high on their agendas, Edinburgh-based Kenoteq are bringing new aesthetics and a strong circular economy language and style to interiors. The K-BRIQ and the slimmer K-SLIP tile product, are breathing new life into construction and demolition waste, one of the world’s most prolific waste streams – and, most importantly, they are helping to divert them from landfill and convert them into decorative surfaces through a low energy and carbon production process. The cladding products are made from near 100% waste materials, a mix of recycled aggregates (old bricks, old stone and old mortars to headline the main ingredients), with a good dose of recycled plasterboard and recycled pigments to give the colour variety.

Not only is the counter a key point of sale, it needs to attract and hold attention as well as be robust, durable and extol and support the brand or outlet’s style and values.

Kat Antos-Lewis Photography

Kenoteq’s striking bricks and tiles are available in a myriad of both traditional and bold colours which not only look stunning but critically are unfired and so have a tiny carbon footprint compared to traditional bricks and ceramics. But with a comparative durability and strength.

Gail’s Bakery is one of the first nationwide brands to showcase this product to support their ethical ‘neighbourhood bakery’ brand.

Holland Harvey began working with bakery Gail’s nearly 10 years ago, refurbishing the original Hampstead bakery in 2013. They have now delivered over 60 new bakeries in neighbourhoods across the UK and recently used the Gullane Cyan Light K-SLIP to show-off the bakery’s counter items in the Weybridge outlet in Surrey. Bold and fresh, the geometric counter and seating designs in this teal blue are inspired by the historical charm of nearby Brooklands Airfield and the geometric architecture of the existing building.

Gail’s Bakery’s Kings Street, Manchester outlet designed by sustainable hospitality specialists, Object Space Place, showcases the magenta K-BRIQ in a striking checkerboard “hit and miss” design – Kenoteq calculated the carbon savings of using the K-BRIQ in this design over a traditional brick to be the equivalent of boiling the water for 100,000 cups of coffee!

“The world needs to move rapidly towards a more sustainable future and the hospitality sector can take a leading role in this,” says Rizvi Khaleque, CEO of Indian Streetfood Chain, Tuk Tuk in Edinburgh, whose latest vibrant interior design by leading Edinburgh-based interior design firm, S+ Co, puts the Gillespie Magenta and Heriot Mustard frogged K-BRIQs into a statement bar design with a jewel-like quality that is a focal point for diners. It also encases half a tonne of recycled construction and demolition waste. And saves over 130 kg CO2e compared to being built in traditional brick – a keen saving for a still relatively modest counter.

“The interiors for this second Tuk Tuk outlet took inspiration from the vibrant architecture and food found across India,” explains Claire Jones, Senior Interior Designer at S+Co. “S+Co looked to create a space that was welcoming and fun, a playful reflection of Tuk Tuk’s Indian street good culture and the diverse neighbourhood of their new location.”

The K-BRIQ and K-SLIP are fully circular products from the built environment for the built environment. Not only is careful consideration for the environment the story of the materials themselves, the production process uses minimal energy with no firing in the equation to significantly reduce the reliance on fossil fuels in production. Instead Kenoteq’s factory relies on renewable energy sources, biomass and wind power. Finally, the closed loop circular nature of the final product, means that K-BRIQs and K-SLIPs can be safely recycled themselves into recycled aggregate at their end of life – which means of course they can be remade into further K-BRIQ or K-SLIP products.

Good design decisions really don’t need to cost the earth!

About Kenoteq Ltd.

Design without compromise! Kenoteq is a pioneering UK company at the forefront of sustainable materials made from recycled waste. The newly launched first products are the revolutionary low carbon K-BRIQ® and K-SLIP™ currently the world’s most sustainable bricks and brickslips, unfired, made from 95% recycled construction and demolition materials together with recycled pigments, and are 100% recyclable. They are suitable for interior or exterior use and offer a wide colour palette. With a technical specification akin to traditional bricks and brickslips, the products benefit from a carbon footprint 95% less than their traditional equivalents.

Vescom introduces an innovation in sustainable embossed wallcovering. The first of its kind to be released in Europe, Purefin is an environmentally friendly olefin wallcovering with the proven performance and durability benefits of hardwearing materials.

Olefin wallcovering - design Concreed
Olefin wallcovering - design Concreed

In today’s busy world, the right materials can transform interiors of any kind into quiet, comfortable and healthy spaces that both feel good and do good. There’s a growing need for alternative interior materials that take a bold step forward in sustainability and durability. The olefin-based wallcovering is free of PVC, plasticisers, chlorine, heavy metals, formaldehyde, halogenated fire retardants and phthalates.

Olefin wallcovering - design Lynn

This unique material asked for a unique identity. Vescom Purefin wallcovering comes in two embossed designs that have a distinctive natural, chalky, matte look. ‘Undesigned’, not over-designed, they have an artisanal, hand-crafted appearance.

Rough and rugged yet achieving a peaceful ambience in interiors, Concreed reinforces its concrete and clay influences with its natural palette: six neutral tones that call to mind chalk, travertine and kaolin. Inspired by traditional plant-based weaving materials, such as flax, raffia and rattan, linen-like Lynn has nine natural colourways, from crisp linen to soft hemp to dry bamboo.

Silk has a rich history and has long been revered as one of the world’s most luxurious fabrics. While it boasts a storied past, silk seamlessly adapts to modern sensibilities. Vescom enriches its already extensive and varied textile wallcovering collection with the introduction of 10 new woven silk wallcoverings. Aligning with Vescom’s material-driven DNA, the new releases effortlessly bring silk’s classic yet contemporary opulence to today’s contract interiors.

Silk not only immediately evokes a sense of luxury but is also a beautiful bio-based resource, allowing us to connect with nature from the comfort of indoor spaces. Whether adorning the interiors of premium hotels, residences or exclusive boutiques, silk-based materials harmoniously align with other high-end natural elements such as marble and stone, softening the overall design scheme while introducing an additional layer of refinement and elegance.

Vescom - Textile Wallcovering - Chandra

Vescom’s woven silk wallcovering collection is both rich and diverse. The various structures and colours reflect the inherent beauty of silk, highlighting Vescom’s respect for the unique properties of materials. Despite being industrially manufactured and designed for the contract market, Vescom’s silk wallcoverings exude a handcrafted feel. You can still perceive the artisanal touch, whether through the impression of a silk loom or the visible slub.

Vescom - Textile Wallcovering - Bodhi

The 10 wallcoverings showcase different facets of silk. With their raw appearance, intentional irregularities and more pronounced slub, Chandra and Madhura celebrate the unexpected beauty found in natural, artisanal materials. Design Ravi accentuates silk’s inherent lustre, which creates a soft luminance in interior spaces, while others like Nirmala are more matte. Some underscore their connection to nature through printed motifs – Bodhi depicting the Bodhi tree, a significant symbol of enlightenment in Buddhism; Dipti with irregular lines resembling mountain ranges or layers of the earth’s strata; Khilana with blossoms, referencing the Hindi meaning of the name. The patterns are printed using different techniques that produce different looks and feels, from three dimensionality to metallic effects.

With a wide array of 111 sophisticated colourways, the collection’s palette reinforces the natural connection, offering tones that span the spectrum of worldly wonders, from precious metals like gold, silver and bronze to soft, dusty pastels and the earthy elegance of terra rosa.

Inspired by her flower-filled gardens in the heart of the English countryside, Katharine Pooley has designed a delicate and enchanting wallpaper collection with Fromental.

The hand-painted and hand-embroidered wallcovering showcases and celebrates a beautiful and harmonious landscape featuring copious butterflies, flowers, and other natural elements, with each panel telling its own story. The wallpaper is a charming and evocative design, perfect for bringing a sense of history and romanticism into any interior. The elegance and exquisite attention to detail of each brush stroke will ensure it will be adored for many years to come.

With every piece sold, a donation will be made to support Butterfly Conservation, the charity which works to protect and conserve British butterflies, moths and their habitats.

James McDonald Photography

The Wallpaper

A contemporary interpretation of the traditional Chinoiserie style, the wallpaper has an original and captivating look, with different scales of flowers and foliage carefully placed to create a classically graceful flower border. It has been meticulously painted by Fromental’s artists on silk paper panels to reflect the charming detail of the gardens that surround Katharine’s Georgian home in Oxfordshire.

James McDonald Photography
James McDonald Photography

Katharine worked closely with the Fromental design team over several months to create a design that is both quintessentially English and very personal. The wallpaper features many of Katharine’s favourite flowers including Honeysuckle, Camellia, Lilac, Salvia, Duchess Peonies, Delphiniums, Clematis, Jasmine, Anemones and Forget-me-nots, and has been created in two colourways, Primrose Yellow and a softer Light Fawn hue.

James McDonald Photography

Unexpected flourishes abound - a shy hedgehog here, a jewel like beetle there, a nibbling dormouse peeking through the foliage - and the pièce de resistance of the design - a smattering of beautiful butterflies – airily flutters overhead. Altogether it is a wonderfully whimsical scene, as if one has accidentally wandered into a secret English garden full of beauty and intrigue.

James McDonald Photography

The Butterflies

British butterflies, and their decline, are a personal passion project for Katharine, and having taken part in Butterfly Conservation’s Big Butterfly Count for the past few years, and noting the sad depletion of many of the incomparably wonderful species native to Britain, Katharine saw this wallpaper collection as a chance to spotlight and support the work of Butterfly Conservation, who tirelessly record, educate and lobby for the conservation of British insect life and to create habitats and nature reserves.

James McDonald Photography

Under the presidency of Sir David Attenborough since 1998, Butterfly Conservation employs many leading scientists. Their report of 2022 revealed the alarming news that 80% of butterflies in the UK have declined since the 1970s and that of the 58 butterfly species in the UK, 24 species were classified as ‘threatened’, eight as ‘endangered’ and 16 as ‘vulnerable’. Half of the butterfly species that currently occur in Britain are therefore listed as either ‘threatened with extinction’ or ‘near threatened’.

James McDonald Photography
James McDonald Photography

As the Vice-President of Butterfly Conservation and wildlife broadcaster Chris Packham puts it succinctly: “Right now, we are facing a man-made disaster of global scale. The twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss are pushing much of the natural world to the brink – including many of our most treasured species. In the UK, the majority of our butterfly and moth species are in worrying decline. These beautiful and fascinating creatures are not just important in their own right, but are also indicators of a healthy environment for all wildlife.”

James McDonald Photography

As well as featuring many of the most beautiful and iconic British butterflies in the design (including Large Whites, Small Tortoiseshells, Common Blues, Holly Blues, Purple Emperors, Peacocks, Clouded Yellows, and Fritillaries), 10% of every wallpaper sold will be given by Fromental to this important charity.

The Launch

The wallpaper will be featured in Katharine Pooley's London boutique at 160 Walton Street and will be used to decorate the dining room and master bedroom of Katharine’s country home. It will also be sold at Fromental showrooms worldwide.

Katharine will be hosting a press event to formally launch the wallpaper in the UK at the end of June. This will be followed by the US launch in September as part of New York Design week, at the Fromental Lexington Avenue showroom, and then by the Asia launch in Hong Kong in November.

About Katharine Pooley

Recently named ‘British Interior Designer of the Decade’, ‘International Designer of the Year in Asia’ and ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Katharine Pooley has in a short space of time become one of Europe's leading designers. Her portfolio encompasses a multitude of interior styles and architectural genres and her design ethos is one of luxurious eclecticism. No two projects are ever alike, but they are universally beautiful and timeless.

The global leader in producing and distributing innovative and sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, the Cosentino Group, has introduced a new high-performance, ultra-compact stone collection: Dekton® Pietra Kode, the vision of renowned designer and architect, Daniel Germani.

VK04
TK06

Pietra Kode reinterprets the timeless beauty of three classic Italian stones: Vicenza, Travertine and Ceppo di Gré. Each of these antique natural stones has inspired three Dekton® concrete series within the collection, with enhanced technical properties for the world of modern architecture and design. Each colour incorporates contemporary elegance into the design, with the rich shades and textures creating a sensory experience beyond what the eye can see. The carbon-neutral Dekton® surface allows the collection to be used in a virtually limitless range of indoor and outdoor applications, including kitchen and bathroom worktops, flooring, furniture cladding, wall cladding and more.

Daniel Germani - TRAVERTINO

Pietra Kode marks the third collection developed with designer and architect, Daniel Germani. While Germani’s previous “Industrial” and “Chromica” collections for the brand have been inspired by industrial design, the seven hues that make up Pietra Kode channel the influence of Vicenza stone, travertine, and Milan’s iconic Ceppo di Gré stone on Italian architecture over the centuries.

“For this collection, I spent a lot of time decoding each stone’s history in Italian architecture and reimagined them in a contemporary design with all of the benefits of Dekton,” said Daniel Germani. “Pietra Kode is a collection that showcases luxury in the small, understated details. It’s designed with the future in mind and compliments any space in a way that won’t go out of style.”

Daniel Germani - CEPPO

Vicenza Kode series

Four warm and versatile colours that reinterpret the code of classic Vicenza stone. With neutral, earthy tones and a rich design that flows onto the edges, all coexist in perfect harmony and complement cream, wood, and taupe palettes.

VK01 Nebbia is inspired by the texture of Grigio Alpi, with a fine-grained white creamy base dotted with warm taupe hues.

VK01
VK01

VK02 Avorio features a light beige shade in an extremely natural finish, inspired by the eponymous Avorio stone, an Italian material characterised by the presence of fossil shells.

VK01

VK03 Grigio boasts a gray colour scheme and warm nuances. VK03 Grigio draws its inspiration from Grigio Alpi, made popular by the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, who used it in his villas and palaces in the Veneto region. It blends perfectly with creams, woods and taupe colours.

VK03

VK04 Grafite combines a mix of black and gray interspersed with whitish and reddish cloud-like patches, channeling the texture of dark, fine-grained limestone.

VK04

Travertine Kode series

The series reinterprets the stone out of which Rome was built, made classical art shine and inspired Renaissance architecture. Two elegant designs are full of nuances reminiscent of these classic styles.

TK05 Sabbia reinterprets Italian Travertine, cut with a vein in its thread that flows through the pieces in a disorderly and colourful way, making it perfect for rustic or natural environments.

TK05

TK06 Marmorio takes cues from Travertino Navona, the quintessential Roman stone. Its porous striped structure gives an elegant, bright and lightweight look to any design.

TK06

Ceppo Kode series

It reinterprets the beauty of the Ceppo di Gré stone, often used in architecture in Milan, to design spaces that inspire us and connect us with nature. Like Vicenza Kode, Ceppo Kode also features design along the edges, perfect for particularly exposed applications.

CK07 Ceppo - the distinctive blue-gray multiform structure of the Italian Ceppo di Gré stone inspires this unique colour. It is an unmistakable pebbled pattern that is ideal for both indoors and outdoors, with its timeless design making it a perfect choice for a classic or modern look.

Multi-disciplinary architectural practice, Studio Power has specified Cosentino’s Silestone® in Arcilla Red from the carbon neutral Sunlit Days collection for a freestanding island and matching flooring at its Salford studio. Dekton® Eter has also been selected for the kitchen area worksurfaces and splashback.

“We explored various materials during the design process and felt that the warmth, earthiness and calmness of the Arcilla Red Silestone® was perfect for the studio island unit. We have always aspired to have a sculptural installation and Arcilla Red Silestone® has done just that! Meanwhile, Dekton® Eter has been perfectly combined with the matt charcoal grey kitchen units to achieve a coherent monochromatic backdrop, which acts as a shadow to showcase the Arcilla Red Silestone® installation to its fullest potential,” says Jyh Lee, Architect at Studio Power.

Studio Power specified Silestone® in Arcilla Red for both the kitchen island and flooring. The island is designed in a 12mm thickness and the flooring, 20mm. This carbon neutral material is made from 20% recycled materials and is a fully sustainable choice. Part of the Sunlit Days collection, it’s a deep and earthy red that adds warmth and a statement look to the open-plan space. A hybrid surface of premium minerals, quartz and recycled materials, Silestone® ’s innovative HybriQ+ technology ensures it is also low maintenance with a high resistance to scratches and stains, making it the perfect choice for this busy working studio.

Dekton® Eter in a 12mm thickness was then selected for the kitchen area worksurfaces with an 8mm thickness for the splashbacks. Fabricated by Bolton-based Signature Splashbacks, this innovative ultracompact surface is made from a mix of porcelain, glass and quartz. It’s extremely scratch resistant, stain resistant, fire and heat resistant with high strength and versatility in its application. Along with residential projects of any size, whether kitchen or bathroom worktops and wall cladding, it can also be used for residential building facades, flooring, furniture and shower trays.

Just like Silestone® ’s Sunlit Days collection, Dekton® is also carbon neutral and combines sustainability with safety and energy efficiency. Dekton® has LEED and BREEAM certifications in environmental and sustainable design along with the highest classification in fire resistance. Part of Dekton®’s Natural collection, Eter is a dramatic black and grey-toned surface material with a contemporary look ideal for Studio Power’s kitchen area.

PARKLEX PRODEMA has extensive experience supplying panels for applications in many countries all over the world. The use of wood in the construction of hospitals facilitates the recovery of patients: it reduces stress and improves people’s mood.

Moffit Cancer Center (Florida | USA)

Main features

Continuity

Architects are provided the possibility of matching interior walls and ceilings with the soffit, creating a feeling of continuity both inside and out. They can also match the interior floor with interior walls and ceilings -as well as with the furniture-, creating a feeling of continuity within the same space.

Natural wood

  • Provides warmth and comfort to spaces.
  • Contributes to improving the well-being of those admitted to hospitals, and of health personnel.
  • Humanizes spaces (especially where we don’t like to be...).
  • Offers a great diversity of design options (range of wood species) and coordinates adequately with all types of materials (coexists harmoniously).
  • Wood for all types of coatings and applications -versatility-, ensuring perfect aesthetic coordination: floors, walls, ceilings, doors, furniture, wet areas and areas in contact with water, areas high traffic, soffits, etc.
  • Wood is a noble material, which brings prestige and increases the status of the project.
  • Wood to design projects that convey the quality of the service offered by the client.

Technology

PARKLEX PRODEMA’s own technology that contributes to improving the performance of the wood. Natural wood where the use of wood is not considered suitable.

Sustainable raw materials

With PARKLEX PRODEMA’s products, raw forest materials are an important part of the product. Aware of the importance that forest masses have for development of life on the planet, and to limit the greenhouse effect, we believe in purchasing sustainable forest products. Maintaining forests with controlled, appropriate felling helps to maintain biodiversity and the recovery capacity of the forests themselves.

In addition to environmental benefits, purchasing certified products has economic and social benefits, since it guarantees dignified social and labour conditions for the employees of the forestry management companies and other companies farther down the chain. In many cases, it is also a huge boon to revitalise rural areas.

Zero environmental impact

The life cycle of an HPL is more than thirty (30) years. During all this time, and thanks to the surface composition of the board, that protects the wood, the finish of our product is stable and does not need any maintenance, sanding, varnishing, painting or any type of arrangement. Our materials do not require any type of chemical product to fix or clean them, so environmental impact in this regard is zero.

Their products

NATURFLOOR-W - Maintenance-free natural wood flooring for interiors

NATURFLOOR-W is a maintenance-free floor for indoor spaces. Designed specifically for areas with heavy traffic, like hotels, offices, museums, airports, and shops, it is also suitable for residential applications and can be installed over radiant flooring.

The anti-moisture treatment on the surface, along with the birch plywood (9-layer marine birch plywood) and counterbalance with HPL barrier, applicable to all woods and finishes, means that NATURFLOOR-W can be installed in areas frequently in contact with water. There is an option to specify even better anti-slip resistance.

This is a durable and sustainable product (FSC), 100% water-resistant, and with an AC6 score on wear resistance and Grade-4 scratch resistance. This makes it an ideal material for commercial spaces with heavy traffic.

Hospital of Valdecilla (Valdecilla | Spain)

Health

To certify our NATURFLOOR-W product, we use the Indoor Advantage Air Gold Certificate, since this certificate is well-known for floors around the world. It is based on controlling the quality of the air within and around buildings and structures, especially in terms of the health and comfort of the building’s occupants. When we speak of air quality, we must speak of VOC emissions (Volatile Organic Compound), meaning the volatile organic components that the product emits.

This document certifies that NATURFLOOR-W has low VOC emissions with the indoor air quality standard (IAQ). From a sustainable construction perspective, these products are candidates for obtaining LEED credits in the Indoor Air Quality section.

Cleaning and desinfection

  • Dirt does not stick easily to the surface of the NATURFLOOR-W boards. However, if the surface becomes dirty it can be cleaned with lukewarm water mixed with liquid detergent, using a soft cloth and never rubbing the surface dry.
  • For persistent stains, conventional commercial bleaches can be used, always diluted in the concentrations recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Never use detergents containing abrasive particles.
  • Cloths, sponges or paper with abrasive agents should never be used as they can damage the surface.
  • Do not use excess water, or leave puddles of water on the floor.
  • Cleaning with pressurized water machines is not allowed.
  • It is always recommended to carry out a cleaning test on a small area of the material.
  • The use of solvents and chemical cleaning products must always be carried out respecting the corresponding safety and hygiene rules.
  • There is a list of commercial products that can be used. For more details, consult the PARKLEX PRODEMA Technical Department.
Moffit Cancer Center (Florida | USA)

Durability

The finish of our interior floor product is stable with minimal evolution over time. It does not need any varnish or paint to remain just like the very first day. The surface composition of the boards protects the product from moisture, wear, scratching, blows, marks from heels and pets, fading from sunlight, and stains, eliminating the need for any later treatment. Thanks to its durability, no type of maintenance is required.

The life cycle of an HPL is more than thirty (30) years. This makes our engineered hardwood floor a product with structural durability of more than thirty years. The structural durability of natural wood is less.

This is a durable and sustainable product (FSC), 100% water-resistant (NATURFLOOR-W can be installed in areas frequently in contact with water), and with an AC6 score on wear resistance and Grade-4 scratch resistance. This makes it an ideal material for commercial spaces with heavy traffic.

NATURHARDPANEL-W - Maintenance-free natural wood panel for interior walls and ceilings

Natural wood that is extremely moisture- and fire-resistant, for interior walls and ceilings.

Thanks to the technical leak-tightness and moisture-resistance properties of the natural wood veneer, NATURHARDPANEL-W brings a feeling of special warmth to indoor areas in frequent contact with water. It is also a high resistance covering for commercial spaces.

It has been designed for high-traffic areas such as hospitals, hotels, offices, museums, or institutional buildings.

Anti-bacterial surface protection

NATURHARDPANEL-W contains silver ions, a naturally antibacterial element that helps to eliminate 99.9% of surface bacteria (Staphilococcus Aureus and Escherichia Coli) within 24 hours.

PARKLEX PRODEMA use a technology that impregnates the natural timber veneer with a specific anti-bacteria overlay. This overlay lasts for the whole life of the panel; therefore, the anti-bacterial features are permanent and require no additional treatment (Tests according to ISO 22196:2007 / JIS Z 2801:2010).

The antibacterial properties of our panels have been verified by independent regulators, with tests carried out to certify their effectiveness in eliminating 99.9% of surface bacteria.

Besides, a special resin incorporated into our production process protects our panels against damage from household, commercial and alcohol-based cleaning products, as long as PARKLEX PRODEMA standard cleaning and maintenance recommendations are followed.

NATURHARDPANEL-W anti-bacteria: the best solution for high-sensitive areas -hospitals, surgeries, nursing homes and laboratories-.

To certify our NATURHARDPANEL-W product, we use Clean Air Gold Certificate. It is based on controlling the quality of the air within and around buildings and structures, especially in terms of the health and comfort of the building’s occupants. When we speak of air quality, we must speak of VOC emissions (Volatile Organic Compound), meaning the volatile organic components that the product emits. This certificate analyses the results obtained, based on the CDHP (California Department of Public Health Standard Method). Based on the numbers, it indicates in which of the three foreseen scenarios the product can be installed: offices, schools, or private residences.

This document certifies that NATURHARDPANEL-W has low VOC emissions with the indoor air quality standard (IAQ). From a sustainable construction perspective, these products are candidates for obtaining LEED credits in the Indoor Air Quality section.

Food contact

The NATURHARDPANEL-W S HPL board is suitable for contact with food in accordance with CE Regulation 1935/2004 and EU Regulation No. 10/2011.

  • Suitable for food contact
  • Complementary to cleaning and disinfection protocols.
  • Optimum hygiene of the entire assembly thanks to complementary products.

Fire: the best classification

NATURHARDPANEL-W timber faced panels are classified as Class A (ASTM E84) or B-s1,d0 (as per EN 13501-1). This proves that it achieves the absolute best reactionto- fire classification for an organic product. The test also includes a measurement of smoke production and the presence of burning droplets, with NATURHARDPANEL-W achieving the highest rating in both categories.

NATURSKININT-W - Natural wood veneer for application on surfaces

NATURSKININT-W is a high density natural wood veneer. Its thickness (1.5mm - 3mm / 0.06” - 0.11”) makes it flexible for application on different surfaces, such as doors, columns, furniture and other interior elements. It adheres to any material -chipboard, fiber cement, MDF, metal, etc.- and its radius of curvature of up to 25cm / 9.85” allows it to cover rounded corners, columns... Suitable for covering doors, making furniture, etc.

Anti-bacterial surface protection

NATURSKININT-W contains silver ions, a naturally antibacterial element that helps to eliminate 99.9% of surface bacteria (Staphilococcus Aureus and Escherichia Coli) within 24 hours.

NATURSKININT-W anti-bacteria: the best solution for high-sensitive areas -hospitals, surgeries, nursing homes, laboratories-.

Cleaning and desinfection

  • Dirt does not stick easily to the NATURSKININT-W veneer.
  • Always consult the list of commercial products that can be used on the surface to which the NATURSKININT-W sheet is adhered.

Greater lifespan

Preventing bacterial surface contamination extends the lifespam of our products. As antibacterial protection is a natural part of our products, rather than an additional coating, PARKLEX PRODEMA panels are ingrained with longer lasting protection.

Durability

The finish of our interior covering product is stable and does not change over time. It does not need any varnish or paint to remain just like the very first day. The surface composition of the boards protects the product from moisture, wear, scratching, blows, fading from sunlight, and stains, eliminating the need for any later treatment. Thanks to its durability, no type of maintenance is required.

The life cycle of an HPL is more than thirty (30) years. This makes NATURSKININT-W a product with structural durability of more than thirty years. The structural durability of natural wood is less.

These are durable and sustainable products, moisture-resistant, and with Grade-3 scratch resistance. This makes it an ideal material for commercial spaces with heavy traffic. Thanks to the technical leak-tightness and moisture-resistance properties of the natural wood veneer, NATURSKININT-W is a high-resistance covering for commercial spaces.

Food contact

The NATURSKININT-W HPL veneer is suitable for contact with food in accordance with
CE Regulation 1935/2004 and EU Regulation No. 10/2011.

Entering the rooms of the Landaburu Borda country house, the NATURFLOOR-W wooden floor (an AC6 natural wood floor especially designed for rooms with heavy, frequent traffic and suitable for spaces in frequent contact with water) takes us to their bathrooms, in which the Country Oak wood finish takes continuity over walls, floors, furniture, and even inside the shower cabins.

With a 14 mm thick and a bevelled edge, NATURFLOOR-W is installed as glued floor, with different board widths (188 and 290 mm). The boards rest on pieces of sound-proofing blankets laid out in parallel. Between them, elastic adhesive lines were applied to secure said boards to the ground. They are joined together by a tongue-and-groove machining, to which a line of PVA D3/D4 glue is applied to hold them together and to avoid water leaks into their structure.

Furniture has been custom made with standard NATURPANEL-W panels, the same material as used in walls, which has been cut to size to allow the installation of electrical and water sources.

A glass curtain separates the WC space from the shower. The shower stall is continuous with the same Country Oak finish, although here the material used is the NATURHARDPANEL-W board, the PARKLEX PRODEMA covering for areas frequently in contact with water which is built on an HPL core that makes it watertight.

The shower stall’s lower corner has been resolved with a superimposed edge system, applying a sealant from above to below the panel to prevent water entry. Installing the panels on laths provides for good water draining and air circulation. These two qualities guarantee hygiene and a long material life.
