Founders & Design Directors, Keith and Helena Myers of The Myers Touch Kitchen Design Studio have announced their planned retirement from the industry after 21 years in business.

Leading their award-winning studio in Winchester, Keith and Helena Myers have mapped out a plan to retire by the New Year. Their team of designers, installers and business support staff have been informed of their decision and they are working closely with those individuals to plan this transition.

The Myers Touch team are completing the process of notifying all current clients of their commitment to complete projects. For any 2025 projects, they will ensure a smooth handover to one of their manufacturing partners. Suppliers are also in the process of being notified to ensure the successful completion of all projects.

The husband-and-wife team began their kitchen design business in 2003 with the vision to open a premium design studio and consultancy service that showcased state-of-the-art kitchen displays, growing the business over the years to one that is recognised as one of the leading kitchen design studios in the UK winning several retailer, showroom and project design awards over the past two decades.

Before embarking on a career in the kitchen industry, Keith and Helena had previously worked in global sales and account management in IT and pensions business process management in Insurance. Whilst raising three small children and being trained in engineering design and interior design, they gained architectural, interior and spatial design experience from overseeing three complete home renovations in their spare time, which gave them the confidence to both leave their jobs.

They began their dream of starting their design business journey from their home study, offering a home remodelling consultancy service with a focus on the kitchen space as the hub of the home.

In 2007, the design duo found a previous contemporary fireplace showroom just a stone’s throw from their family home which they turned into their Design Studio, remodelling the main space to showcase contemporary kitchen display examples and converting the original garage to their ‘designer’s hub’ space.

As their business grew, Keith and Helena began plans to expand the studio in 2015. The extension enabled them to double the size of the studio so they could showcase additional luxury kitchen displays and expand their hosting space for clients and customer events. This development turned the studio into a 210 sqm contemporary, state-of-the-art, ‘Mies Van Der Rohe’ style architectural building for architects and homeowners, which over the years has offered interactive kitchen displays from leading partner brands including eggersmann, Copatlife, KH Kitchens and SieMatic.

Their pioneering approach to kitchen design has led Keith & Helena to regularly host and take part in industry talks at RIBA, The KBSA, Grand Designs Live and Ask the Expert, KBIS (virtual), and The Homebuilding & Renovating Show – in 2022 Helena received an invitation to America’s largest industry show in Orlando, KBIS where she took part in a talk alongside other American industry experts. They have also been proud to have won many global and national showroom, retailer and project awards over the past two decades. Keith is a current Regional Director of the KBSA and a former Regional Director of SBID.

Keith & Helena Myers said “After 21 years of fun and adventure in the world of kitchens, we have decided to retire. It’s not been an easy decision, as it’s never a good time to say goodbye to our studio, our wonderfully supportive and talented staff team, as well as the friends and partners we have enjoyed such fulfilling relationships with over the past two decades.

We are proud of what made our business stand apart in an ever-competing industry - our design approach has always been to ensure each of our designs enriches household relationships first and foremost and the homeowner's quality of life through the efficiency, relevance and beauty of their designed spaces bringing into a home what we are renowned for – creating kitchens with light, space & laughter.

We look forward to saying a personal thank you to our amazing staff for their long-term commitment and hard work over the years. We also want to thank our customers and industry friends who we have had the pleasure to get to know personally and professionally throughout our business journey. It was our vision in 2003 to create an award-winning showroom in the heart of our home town of Winchester and looking back we are proud to have achieved that and been privileged to have designed many exceptional kitchen living spaces for homeowners across the UK and Europe.

We will be watching from the sidelines at the future of an industry which we love, and we hope it continues to get the recognition that designers across the UK deserve.”

All business enquiries about the purchase of the studio should be made in writing directly to: [email protected]

The Myers Touch is delighted to announce that eggersmann’s masterpiece kitchen island launch SKYWALK’®, officially launched at Milan’s international EuroCucina 2024 Fair, is now available at their Winchester kitchen design studio.

Driven by a passion for bringing extraordinary concepts and materials into the kitchen, eggersmann constantly creates special detailed solutions. The design of the SKYWALK’® island reflects their architectural approach to kitchen design, as it defies gravity with its unexpected, cantilevered structure and angled LED under-lighting. Made entirely of solid natural stone, the SKYWALK® island showcases luxury materials such as burnished or bronzed brass, granite, and Taj Mahal leather quartzite which are meticulously cut by their skilled craftsmen and set onto the stone in hexagonal-shaped pieces to create a striking visual statement in any modern home.

eggersmann’s SKYWALK® floating island design crafted from luxurious materials such as burnished brass and Quartzite Taj Mahal leather is now available at The Myers Touch.

The island’s design has a cantilevered design structure which appears to be floating in the air with a discreet glimpse of the structure’s natural stone set between the two island elements. The SKYWALK® design achieves this floating effect through a cantilevered structure with a central support that provides both stability and space for essential installations such as an integrated hob, sink and tap.

In addition to the SKYWALK® island is the SKYWALK® wall cabinetry also available in a range of superior finishes. This innovative design has options to include hidden pocket-door storage, integrated appliances and eggersmann's recently launched Depot sliding door system which allows the user to hide the sink area when not in use to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of a space.

The Myers Touch partnership with eggersmann answers their client's desire for a premium German kitchen brand that offers innovative design, luxury material finishes and premium craftsmanship, enabling their expert design team to incorporate texture, personality, and individuality into their high-end residential kitchen projects for homeowners and architects. Eggersmann’s range of superior-quality cabinetry can be matched to designs available in a range of materials such as marble, textures, grain and gloss finishes, to create kitchens that are perfect in the balance of form and function.

Eggersmann also offers flowing transitions from kitchen architecture to living concepts such as room dividers, shelving systems and units so their design team can create the most sophisticated, luxury interior schemes.

The Myers Touch is eggersmann’s UK retailer in the Southwest region. The studio’s first Eggersmann display within the showroom features a large, contemporary central island with a cantilevered-style concrete finish worktop. Complementing the concrete finish are Twill veneered mitre-edge door fronts that are adjacent to a bank of light oak Eggersmann cabinetry with integrated, fully functioning Gaggenau appliances. A second eggersmann display is due to be installed in the Winter of 2024.

The Myers Touch is thrilled to introduce its newest furniture partner brand, Caccaro, offering clients a range of custom-designed luxury solutions for their homes.

Renowned for its contemporary and innovative designs, Caccaro’s high-quality furniture combines functionality and aesthetics. Each modular furniture solution can be customised to create a unique look for their clients’ homes within open-plan living and kitchen spaces, living rooms, bedrooms, bookcases and home offices, with each piece meticulously designed to optimise space and functionality whilst maintaining a luxurious, elegant aesthetic.

One of the distinguishing features of Caccaro's furniture range is its attention to detail and superior craftsmanship. The brand showcases clean lines, and minimalistic designs made from premium materials, such as wood, metal, and glass. This blend of modern design principles and traditional craftsmanship results in contemporary furniture pieces that are both stylish and durable, but also stand the test of time.

TV Frame Unit in Kera Invisible White

For example, a new display within The Myers Touch studio is the Caccaro TV Frame system in Kera Invisible White with integrated LED lighting surround - it’s a beautiful example of a media unit system formed with different geometric shapes to display a TV, books and favourite decorative artefacts. The lightness of the suspended unit features a storage pull flap opening for storing TV items such as remotes etc that combined with the geometric bookcase displays, breaks the mould of the classic wall unit, to create a new concept of TV furniture for UK homes.

The added benefit of the design is that not only does it frame the TV unit within the furniture design to give it a new look and aesthetic, but the unit disguises the passage of cables from view.

Wall Pillar Storage System shown with a Kera Sahara Noir natural stone-look finish

Another new display in the studio from their range which showcases how functional storage can be beautifully displayed in a home is the Caccaro Wall Pillar display unit. Each unit is available in a range of exterior and interior finishes and with flexible internal arrangements to suit a range of interior design spaces, offering plenty of space to discretely store daily essentials such as coats, umbrellas, shoes and utility essentials.

Each Wall Pillar unit blends smoothly with the walls and architecture of your rooms, furnishing them with a touch of luxury and sophistication. Their design allows them to be placed in the middle of the room to separate two different areas thanks to their custom height options from floor to ceiling or positioned against a wall. The feature LED unit allows the Wall Pillars to be illuminated to create definition and interest within a scheme.

Wallover double-side sideboard in a Smokey-finish lacquer

Caccaro also boasts an extensive sideboard range which includes their Wallover sideboard module; a free-standing double-sided storage unit solution that can be displayed in the centre of an open-plan living area to divide a space.

The Bookcase element is also designed to be accessible from both sides. It can be customised in size and contains several compartments. The integrated closed elements are functional storage units.

Alternatively, Caccaro’s custom-made curved sideboards are another example of an attractive storage unit available in their range with a choice of wood, lacquer or laminate finish.

Open-plan entrances and hallways can be kept tidy and functional with their ‘Entrance’ system which becomes an attractive furniture unit and provides a tidy, cosy entrance area where everything is at hand. The dual doors open like a treasure chest to reveal a capacious compartment, complete with a bench, shelving and a large shoe rack to house bags, shoes and coats.

Closet Office Desk & Bookcase
Curved Sideboard in Kera Invisible White

Caccaro’s ‘Closet Office’ design answers the wishes of those who want a built-in desk and bookcase system that can be hidden away behind cabinetry doors when not in use and be customised to perfectly integrate into a kitchen, living room or bedroom space. The work surface is enclosed by two side swinging doors, which reveal hidden shelves that are perfect for storing books, notes and stationery.

The alternation of open and closed compartments dictates the rhythm of this geometric and functional composition. Both the upper flap door and the lower drawer can be fitted with a servo-drive mechanism for smooth opening with a simple touch. In the side of the module, hidden by the door, remotely controllable LEDs can be turned up and down depending on the mood you want to achieve.

Wallover Bookcase System in contrasting Fumo & Rugiada lacquers

Light accessories can also be customised in many of their systems including their floating Wallover Bookcase design. For example, the sleek Bookcase partitions allow LED lights to be recessed into the rear of the mounted wall system to create a striking, warm visual statement in your home to beautifully display books and artefact pieces.

ADL Design Vertical ‘Line’ Aluminum Screen system

The ADL Design ‘Deco’ sliding door design, which can be seen in The Myers Touch studio featured as a divider on their own-brand Möbelife kitchen display, is an attractive door solution which acts as a striking moving wall. The award-winning design team at The Myers Touch is delighted to present five key trends they predict will feature prominently in their kitchen designs for homeowners in 2024.

Renowned for creating truly bespoke kitchen spaces that offer much more than just cabinetry and appliance options, The Myers Touch design personalised kitchen spaces using their bespoke range, own-brand, German and Italian kitchen partners. These partnerships stem from a deep understanding of their clients, their requirements and how they want to engage as a family within their new kitchen-living space.

Director and co-founder of The Myers Touch Keith Myers says “The expansion of our design partner portfolio has allowed us to answer client desires for ultra-modern design finishes and innovative kitchen systems that reflect European design and functional sophistication. From our new in-house, German-made kitchen range that offers a competitive range of cabinetry to customers to the Italian-made intelligent solutions from Copatlife and the luxury Eggersmann cabinetry range finishes, each partnership has been chosen to allow us to elevate our kitchen design's aesthetic and functional appeal that allows us to offer homeowners kitchen designs that reflect their evolving lifestyle needs and desires".

Trend No.1: New Surface Finishes that add Personality and Individuality

In 2024, their designers predict an increase in bespoke surface finishes that will add texture, personality and individuality to kitchen spaces. For example, the new material finishes from their German design partner, Eggersmann allow their designers to create cabinetry and island units as a piece of individual craftsmanship. By combining different shades, shapes and contrast materials such as lacquers, glass fronts, slatted oak, Corian, rolled brass and concrete vintage wood, kitchen furniture can be created to look entirely bespoke and handcrafted.

In addition, new cutting-edge materials in a range of wood, aluminium, matt and satin finishes are also available in a range of door sizes and handle solutions from their exclusive Italian kitchen design partner, Copatlife. Their in-house range, Möbelife also offers eclectic colours, internal carcass finishes, minimalist material options and storage solutions such as their new pocket-door cabinetry solution to their designs allowing them increased flexibility to create affordable kitchens that are personalized and reflect a customer’s individuality.

The elaborate lamella structure of the Eggersmann Lausanne real wood is handmade and customised by their craftsmen with millimetre precision.

Trend No.2: Natural and Statement Stone to Define and Showcase Kitchens in Homes

Natural stones, sintered stone and quartz will increasingly be chosen as their luxury material in many kitchens with their designers using these materials to showcase and define sculptured island units, statement splashbacks, frame sinks and workspaces in their kitchen spaces. Natural stones, sintered stone and quartz have become increasingly popular in homes as they blend with every design scheme and have a raw, natural and organic feel, whilst giving the look of opulence within a space.

“Sintered stone and quartz offer a wide range of qualities compared to sensitive marble, limestones and hard granites as it’s beautiful, hard-wearing, stain-resistant and sunresistant” – Helena Myers, Director & Co-Founder of The Myers Touch.

The work area around the sink is accentuated by an Eggersmann profile frame perfectly crafted from the brand’s Bianco Nuvola quartzite worktop.

Trend No.3: Intelligent Lighting Systems in Kitchen Spaces

New, innovative kitchen lighting systems will allow their designers to be increasingly creative and personalised within design schemes to increase enhancement and task lighting. The increase in lit and framed feature wall systems, illuminated cabinetry doors and appliances, sophisticated cabinetry LED lighting and chromotherapy lighting will allow designers to enhance definition, mood and dedicated framed or task areas in kitchen spaces.

One example of this is the new integrated Copatlife LED lighting technology displayed in The Myers Touch design studio which is complemented by an intelligent Novy Wall light system under the wall cabinetry that allows the user to easily control the lighting tone and on/off switch through Novy’s Gesture Control technology.

Trend No.4: Framed-Steel Sliding Doors within Kitchen Design Spaces

Crittal-styled framed steel sliding door systems have been a dominant trend in interiors in the past few years and that trend will continue as homeowners look to create a light-filled modern, Japandi-style look within their property.

The Myers Touch steel-door partner, ADL Doors offers a versatile door system that can be customised to fit any home’s space, offering privacy when closed and when slid open the benefit of creating an open-plan kitchen-living effect that lets in more light, height and functional definition.

Trend No.5: Creating Bespoke Cabinetry and Storage Solutions for a Homeowner’s Lifestyle

There has been more demand for functional and efficient cabinetry storage solutions as our kitchens have become more multi-functional – for example, a functional, yet beautiful breakfast cupboard for a busy family, a desk within a slim pocket-door system for children’s homework and work-from-home days and even a cupboard designed especially for a Thermomix.

An illustration of this was the installation of a concealed cloakroom and pantry which is accessed via discreet pocket doors to provide an increased sense of space in an open-plan kitchen-living space and a discreet cloakroom behind kitchen wall cabinetry which was also acoustically disguised to consider the open-plan, living environment.

Director and co-founder of The Myers Touch Helena Myers says “Our approach to kitchen design is that we’re not just designing a kitchen, we’re designing a whole living environment. It’s vital that we know how the whole space works, the challenges it presents, and how we can achieve an aspirational feel before we set about answering their brief. Ultimately. the homeowner is buying a new space for their family and friends, so our designs are always created especially for how they want to cook, live and feel”.

Award-winning kitchen designers, The Myers Touch are delighted to showcase their recent projects that enhance homeowners' sense of bringing the ‘outside in’ all year round.

Designer, Helena Myers explains “Homeowners want to engage with their outside environment in a greater way than ever before as it enhances positive emotions. By drawing in the sounds, smells and visual pleasures of their garden, they can fully enhance their sense of an indoor-outdoor lifestyle whilst being inside your kitchen.”

The Myers Touch designed this contemporary kitchen within an extension that blends into their garden space – photography by Miriam Sheridan.

Renowned for creating kitchens with ‘Light, Space and Laughter’, The Myers Touch regularly collaborate with homeowners, architects and landscapers to not only create a kitchen-living space that looks and functions practically with a client’s outside space, but one that also provides a feeling of increased happiness and connectivity that allows families to eat, dine and relax together in one combined space.

By choosing complementary materials and tones from the outside, The Myers Touch designers regularly create harmonious interior schemes within kitchen design spaces that link both the inside and the outside. For example, blending natural, warm cabinetry, sleek worktops and a mix of materials such as slim wooden cladding merges seamlessly with the vibrant and natural colour tones of their outside. Designer, Keith Myers says “Enhancing the indoor-outdoor can be further achieved using textures that match the bricks of external walls. Using wood can elongate the space and timber brings warmth to cabinetry in cooler shades.”

The Myers Touch regularly work directly with homeowners who commission them to design a spacial remodel of their ground floor space so a larger, lighter and more family-focused kitchen-living area can be created which features a connection to their outside space. Designer Helena Myers explains; “We love to introduce the natural world into homes using a biophilic design approach in our kitchen designs. From large glass structural spaces to adding a feature glass window that reflects green foliage, herbs and plants in your garden to connect your kitchen with your outdoor space.”

The Myers Touch is delighted to announce the launch of their own-brand kitchen and furniture range named Möbelife which forms part of the new brand kitchen displays in their award-winning studio based in Winchester.

German-made, Möbelife has been introduced to answer consumers' desire for an entry-level contemporary kitchen collection that offers a range of styles, finishes and material choices in high-quality, functional and beautiful cabinetry. The range includes a wide choice of laminate, lacquered, coloured matt, ceramic and concrete effect cabinetry that can be coordinated with a range of worktops and splashbacks.

Made to last, the carcass, shelves and sides are all 19mm thick to provide durability and quality. The back panels are 8mm thick and grooved all around. Important design details include concealed shelf supports, lasered edges, cushioned hinges and aluminium corner profiles on the plinths.

The comprehensive range includes design options such as pocketdoor cabinetry, pull-out storage systems, shelving units and a range of cutlery drawer finishes so that The Myers Touch design team can continue to offer customers a superior range of cabinetry without compromise.

The range also extends harmoniously into other kitchen-living spaces such as boot rooms, walk-in pantries and utility rooms that can match or contrast with the style in the main kitchen to ensure spaces remain clutter-free, clean and fully functional.

With the increase in homeworking, some of these spaces even include a desk area so that they double up as a seamless office space!

Ladder Rails as Design Features

‘When designing a kitchen in a property that has high ceilings, The Myers Touch design team often make use of the bonus space by adding a ladder rail that allows a homeowner to reach high-level display or storage cabinets.

A ladder rail attached to the top of your cabinetry, not only provides an interesting, eye-catching design feature to a space, but provides a fully functional design feature as it allows the homeowner to slide the ladder across the rail before climbing up the ladder to easily access kitchenware or special decorative items.

What’s more, when the ladder isn't in use, their designers can create a space on either side of the rail system so that it can be neatly stored away in a niche space.

Feature Lighting to create an Atmosphere

Clever displays and tones allow homeowners to change the atmosphere, tone and look of their kitchen throughout the day and into the night. From choosing integrated lighting in cabinetry or architectural-toned lighting that shines against a Corian solid surface back panel that showcases a distinctive geometric pattern, adds texture and interest.

Clutter-free Kitchens

Storage remains one of the most important aspects of all kitchen wish lists! From cutlery and utensil drawers, breakfast cupboards and wall-in pantry cupboards, customers at The Myers Touch love the range of functional storage features they can include.

Clever storage ideas range from spice cupboards hidden behind sliding splashbacks, walk-in utility and larders behind hidden pocket doors and pop-up TVs hidden in peninsulas to all help keep their kitchen designs clutter-free.
