As our client base has expanded to include global retail brands such as Pandora, alongside fast-growing operators like Blank Street Coffee and Joe & The Juice, the demands on delivery have shifted. It’s no longer just about creating a strong design—it’s about ensuring that design can be repeated, adapted and delivered without loss of quality.
In response, we’ve evolved how we operate internally.
Rather than following a traditional, linear process, we’ve moved towards a more integrated structure—bringing design, technical development and delivery together from the outset. This allows key decisions to be made earlier, with a clear understanding of cost, programme and buildability, rather than resolving issues later on site.
The impact of this is most visible in rollout-driven projects. In both retail and hospitality environments, consistency becomes critical—often working within tight rollout programmes across multiple locations. Materials, detailing and layout all need to be controlled, while still allowing for the realities of different sites, programmes and constraints. By aligning our teams early, we’re able to establish a clear framework for delivery—one that supports repeatability without losing the integrity of the design.
Alongside these operational changes, the business continues to be guided by a clear set of principles: clarity, accountability and consistency. These are applied in practical terms—clear communication from the outset, defined ownership across each stage of a project, and a consistent standard of delivery regardless of scale.
More recently, this approach has also supported our appointment as an approved contractor for Cineworld, reflecting a continued shift towards larger-scale and more structured delivery environments.

MGL Projects' most significant highlight from the past year has been winning the design pitch for the comprehensive refurbishment of the John Warner Sports Centre, Hertfordshire. Our winning proposal focused on modernising the facility to enhance its commercial capabilities and energy efficiency. Key design elements included relocating the coffee shop and play area to the ground floor, expanding the gym, and creating dedicated studio spaces for yoga and Pilates. We also proposed advanced energy-efficient systems, such as DALI lighting controls and upgraded AC and ventilation systems. This success not only highlights our design prowess but also our commitment to delivering sustainable and client-focused solutions.
In 2025, the interior design industry will focus on sustainability, with eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems becoming standard. Maximalism will gain popularity, featuring bold colours and eclectic patterns. Curved and organic shapes in furniture will add a sense of fluidity to spaces. The concept of "quiet luxury" will emphasise high-quality, understated elegance. Tech integration will continue to rise, with smart home systems enhancing convenience. Additionally, the blending of living, working, and recreational spaces will reflect modern lifestyle changes, creating multifunctional environments that cater to diverse needs.
