Description:
The main purpose of the design concept behind this project was to change the Ukrainian perception of hospitals. The idea was implemented through creating a comfortable environment for visitors and staff. This project adheres to the principals of universal design and is safe for everyone. The project is based on the experience of Olga Miroshnichenko (mother of a girl named Sasha who has a brittle bone disease).
Intuitive design was created with room features taken into account. Each room has a unique colour range to indicate different zones. This project has specially created designer furniture (reception, waiting area in the corridor, washbasins in medical rooms, etc) and navigation systems which adhere to principals of universal design. To ensure patients and visitors can move around the hospital at ease, the design includes a variety of features; the two-level reception desk at height 800 mm and 1100 mm to serve people in wheelchairs, as well as corridors equipped with handrails and automated seats and doors. The seats and the handrails can also be lowered by pressing the button.
