Twenty Years in the making: Homeplay at WOW!house 2026 1st June 2026 | IN DESIGN EVENTS | BY SBID

I started Homeplay 20 years ago because I love technology, in particular sound, and how it can change the way you feel at home. The business has grown into something much broader than that original passion, but what has remained constant is a belief that technology in a beautiful home should be thoughtfully designed to disappear into the design.

The best results happen when we are involved from the very beginning, before ceilings go in and joinery is specified. That is when technology becomes part of the design language of a room rather than an afterthought.

This June, for the first time, Homeplay has been invited to be part of WOW!house 2026, designing and integrating the complete technology experience for the Martin Moore Kitchen with Samantha Bartlett. Built within the Design Avenue at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, WOW!house is a one-of-a-kind event featuring 22 extraordinary rooms, each created by world-class designers and brands.

Samantha Bartlett has conceived the kitchen as the true heart of the home, shaped by nature, heritage and the rituals of everyday living. Designed as both a social hub and a place to retreat, it is a room that needs to feel layered, purposeful and deeply alive. Our role has been to bring the complete technology experience to life within that vision, and the way we do that is by drawing together the very best partners we have built relationships with over two decades and orchestrating them into a single, cohesive experience. For WOW!house that means Lutron control throughout, Lutron Ketra lighting and shading, lighting design by John Cullen and sound by Sonance. Each is exceptional on its own. Brought together with care, the result is something far greater than the sum of its parts, and that is really what Homeplay is about: using decades of experience to combine the right products with the right people to create experiences that simply could not exist any other way.

As always, the technology is there to be felt rather than seen.

The element we are very proud of is Ketra by Lutron, making its UK public debut at WOW!house. Homeplay is privileged to be the first integrator to bring it to the British public, following several months of beta testing in my own home. Ketra is a genuine step change in residential lighting, the kind of product that has to be experienced to be properly understood. It replicates the full spectrum of natural daylight throughout the day, shifting quietly as sunlight does, keeping a room connected to the world outside. Refined over years by Lutron’s engineering team and proven across thousands of North American installations, it arrives in the UK as a mature, battle tested technology rather than a first-generation experiment. Just as importantly, Ketra needs no control wiring and no large lighting panels, which means far less cabling in the fabric of the house and none of the cupboard space that traditional lighting control systems demand. For interior designers it represents something genuinely new: lighting zones that can be redesigned and reprogrammed without rewiring, bringing a level of creative flexibility that has never previously been available in a residential setting.

“Our job is to quietly enrich everyday life, with thoughtfully designed technology that elevates interiors and transforms the way we feel at home.” James Ratcliffe, Homeplay

Twenty years of working in close collaboration with interior designers to make technology invisible, and here we are at WOW!house, where the standard is set by the very best in the business.

WOW!house 2026 runs 2 June to 2 July at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, London. Visit the Martin Moore Kitchen with Samantha Bartlett for the full experience.
