Sustonable Sustonable What are the origins of the brand? Sustonable was started by 3 founders in the Netherlands. The origins spun out of Shell in the Netherlands. The idea was to recycle the plastic bottles that were produced out of the oil of Shell. The traditional application we found was an engineered stone used for kitchen tops. We wanted to replace the unsaturated polyester resin by post-consumer recycled PET. On top of that we developed a very efficient continuous extrusion process to make the thin slabs. Sustonable surfaces are decorative surface materials for wall cladding, flooring, countertops, or other types of furniture. Sustonable How do you work with interior designers? We present our materials and technical specs to interior designers with samples a catalogue and other documents. We support fabricators and installers with technical advice. Sustonable What has been your most significant company highlight or success from the past year? Sustonable was selected for a wall panels installation project at a passenger terminal of Lisbon airport. Sustonable What are the latest trends you’ve noticed in your client’s requests? Clients ask more about Sustonable for wall panel applications as an alternative for ceramics. In general light, beige, warm colour tones are popular. Sustonable How do you see the interior design industry evolving in the year ahead? Sustainability, high recycled content, low carbon footprint will gain market share. Sustonable Is there anything new you are excited to be working on? The exciting thing is that we are now fully focused on the UK market.
