Cosentino, a global leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, announces the worldwide launch of its new mineral surfaces brand, Éclos®, aimed at the kitchen and bathroom countertop market. This launch marks a milestone in the global industry by introducing an entirely new category: “Inlayered Mineral Surface” based on its Inlayr® design technology.

Éclos® combines superior physical and mechanical performance, a 3D integrated design and a crystalline silica-free composition, while incorporating more than 50% recycled materials. This innovation reinforces Cosentino's commitment to sustainability and fabricator safety.

“Since our founding, we have been committed to leading innovation rather than following trends; just as we did with Dekton® and most recently with Hybriq+® technology for Silestone®. Éclos® involves a new turning point for our industry, an evolution that responds to real market needs and anticipates the future”, says Pilar Cosentino, Cosentino Group CEO.

Like Silestone® in 1990 and Dekton® in 2013, Éclos® represents a breakthrough in the evolution of surfaces for architecture and design. Its development, which involved 50 specialised researchers in different areas, required more than 28,000 hours of research and more than 1,500 hours of testing from the company’s Research & Development and Product departments.

Cosentino

Inlayr® Technology: layered design with 3D realism

Inlayr® technology enables Éclos® to be manufactured using a layered design system. Thanks to an advanced robotics engineering process and innovative decoration techniques, it gives the entire surface a 3D design with unique veins and patterns, and unprecedented depth and consistency. The result is a surface with a three-dimensional design integrated into the edges, with realistic aesthetics and a natural touch and feel that redefine industry standards.

Pioneering composition: zero crystalline silica

Éclos® also introduces a groundbreaking development in the composition of mineral surfaces. The first collection, which will be available globally in the coming months, has zero crystalline silica in its formulation. Furthermore, all colours use a minimum of 50% recycled materials, while several colours incorporate almost 90% recycled materials, demonstrating Cosentino's dedication to the circular economy.

It’s composition, and the formulation developed specifically for this new product, gives Éclos® better flexibility, ductility and impact resistance, making it easier for fabricator and industry professionals to handle and install.

Additionally, through Inlayr® technology, Éclos® offers superior heat resistance that can withstand temperatures up to 220°C including direct contact with cookware immediately after use, making it an ideal solution for kitchen countertops both commercially and at home.

A paradigm shift in a changing global industry

In a context determined by protectionist policies, tariff disputes and growing concerns about the safety of materials like quartz, Cosentino is once again leading the path with Éclos®. This new surface category seeks to transform the sector and offers a safe, sustainable, beautiful design, and high added value alternative.

According to recent reports, the global countertop market will grow at a rate of 3% annually until 2028, reaching $50 billion and 650 million square meters, of which 100 million square meters will be mineral and porcelanic surfaces. The US will remain the largest market, while the largest growth is expected in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and developing countries.

Sustonable

What are the origins of the brand?

Sustonable was started by 3 founders in the Netherlands. The origins spun out of Shell in the Netherlands. The idea was to recycle the plastic bottles that were produced out of the oil of Shell. The traditional application we found was an engineered stone used for kitchen tops. We wanted to replace the unsaturated polyester resin by post-consumer recycled PET. On top of that we developed a very efficient continuous extrusion process to make the thin slabs.

For this elegant Esher home, HUX created a kitchen that brings together refined craftsmanship with a warm, earthy aesthetic inspired by the clients’ South African heritage. Stained oak cabinetry with delicate fluted detailing forms the foundation, complemented by a leathered Cosentino Sensa Platino island, satin brushed brass accents, and the subtle shimmer of bronze antique mirrors framing the floating shelves and bar.

Beyond its visual appeal, every detail was designed for purposeful living, from the bespoke wine display cabinet above an integrated wine fridge to the custom oak ladder and brass rail offering graceful access to tall storage. Hidden pantry space keeps the design sleek, while textured materials and layered finishes create a space that feels luxurious, personal, and built for a lifetime of use.

For The Pelhams project, the client asked for a kitchen and joinery scheme that felt warm and textured while retaining a sense of sophistication. By prioritising a palette of earthy tones, fluted oak detailing, and natural stone, the aim was to create a space that was welcoming and refined. At the centre of the design is Sensa Platino by Cosentino, chosen for its silver-grey base and striking veining that give the kitchen a natural depth. But beyond its visual appeal, this surface was selected for its unique performance qualities. Treated to be stain-resistant, Sensa Platino withstands the demands of a busy family home without compromising on elegance. Its low-maintenance finish ensures that everyday spills and marks can be easily managed, while its durability and premium quality mean it retains its beauty for years to come.

Designed as both a family hub and a space for entertaining, the kitchen centres around a generous island with bar seating, creating a place to gather, cook, and connect. Intelligent storage and considered layouts ensure the kitchen works just as hard on a weeknight as it does when hosting friends. The Sensa Platino surface extends across the kitchen island and into the home bar, creating a cohesive material flow that feels both robust and natural. This choice perfectly balanced the family's desire for practicality with moments of luxury, as the bold drama of the quartzite paired elegantly with warm cabinetry tones and oak veneers, resulting in a home that feels both grounded and refined.

Jeff Vanhinsbergh, Director at stoneCIRCLE, has given his insights into the industry.

stoneCIRCLE is a family-run company that fabricates and installs stone for commercial and residential projects. We work with designers, architects and their clients on everything from retail stores, hotels and commercial projects to residential projects for some of the most prestigious developers, and private clients. We also collaborate with artists on public art and monuments.

Everything we do is bespoke: produced to the client’s specification in the stone of their choice, with expert technical advice available to assist in making sure that the stone chosen is appropriate for the intended use, be that interior or exterior.

stoneCIRCLE
stoneCIRCLE

What are the origins of the brand?

The company started in 1968 as B&V Masonry Ltd, and adopted the stoneCIRCLE brand in the early 2000s. Over the years, we have grown to become one of the biggest stone fabricators in the UK, known for the quality of our products and service. We are based in Basingstoke where we have been since the company started. We use a mixture of the latest technology, including CNC-equipped saws and waterjet cutters, and traditional hand-finishing techniques which allow us to finish our products to the highest standard.

We have our own installation teams who ensure that the installation is also carried out on time and to a very high standard.

stoneCIRCLE

How do your products and services enhance interior design projects?

Stone has been used in interior design for millennia for good reason. It is beautiful, durable and immediately imparts a feeling of luxury.

There are many different types and colours of stone which allows the designer to pick those that suit the look and feel that they are trying to create. We can manufacture intricate patterns in inlaid marble for floors, or book match slabs for feature walls. It is also possible to add fine details by carving into the stone.

stoneCIRCLE

What value does your specialist sector add to the industry?

Stone is an extremely versatile material, that lends itself to use in both interiors and exteriors, and adds a feeling of opulence. It is also durable, lasting several lifetimes if properly cared for. It is one of the most sustainable construction and design materials, needing little energy to produce, long-lasting and fully recyclable/reusable at end of life.

stoneCIRCLE

How do you work with interior designers?

We work directly with interior designers on their projects, advising them as to the most suitable type of stone to achieve the look that they are after, and suggesting alternatives where appropriate. We have decades of experience in this industry and can guide the designer through the specification and fit out process from first concept to installation and final sign off.

stoneCIRCLE

What has been your most significant company highlight or success from the past year?

From October to January, we were running four Harrods projects concurrently and managed to get them all out of the door and installed on time.

stoneCIRCLE

What are the latest trends you’ve noticed in your client’s requests?

More natural materials, marbles are increasingly popular. Some clients are being more adventurous with colours and types of marble, so there has been a bigger range of different marbles coming through the factory.

stoneCIRCLE

Is there anything new you are excited to be working on?

We are working on several exciting projects but are not allowed to disclose the details at this stage.

What does being an SBID Accredited Industry Partner mean to you?

It gives us the opportunity to work closely with designers and become involved in projects further upstream. It’s exciting to be part of a professional association with high standards.

Cosentino, global leader in producing and distributing sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, introduces Dekton® Pietra Edition, a modern and innovative collection inspired by iconic Mediterranean stones. The collection is a continuation of the highly successful 2023 launch of Dekton® Pietra Kode - the vision of renowned designer and architect Daniel Germani. New Pietra Kode designs are now available in the UK.

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Trevi (floors) and Sandik (walls), both available from £400 per sqm

The ultracompact Dekton® Pietra Edition collection adapts the beauty and detail of traditional stones such as Travertine, Piasentina, Ceppo Di Gré, and Campaspero, with enhanced realism and durability to meet the demands of today’s architecture and interior design aspirations.

“Pietra Edition is the new journey to the origin of timeless and Mediterranean architecture already started with Pietra Kode,” said Daniel Germani. “I am proud to continue my collaboration with Cosentino to bring the designs of Pietra Edition to designers, architects, and homeowners as a surface that is both timeless and innovative.”

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Sandik, available from £400 per sqm

Thanks to Dekton's innovative TSP technology, the carbon-neutral Dekton® Pietra Edition collection introduces a technological layer to iconic natural stones, with six serene designs that bring a warmth and modern elegance to any indoor or outdoor project. The collection pays homage to the enduring elegance of Mediterranean natural stones while elevating their design, features, and sensorial perception, creating spaces full of luminosity, modernity and simplicity.

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Trevi (walls) and Polar (floor), both available from £400 per sqm

Four different stone textures, including brand new Piasentina and Campaspero, make up Pietra Edition’s palette of six styles:

- Trevi’s cream base, marked by a parallel pattern of irregular veins in shades of gray and blue, is inspired by the classic beauty of Roman silver Travertine.

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Polar and Trevi, both available from £400 per sqm

- Nebu recreates the depth of Roman Travertine, and its beautiful irregularities bring a unique timeless design to any space.

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Adia, available from £400 per sqm

- Adia provides a versatile finish with a silky appearance. Its cream tone and soft white lines make any design project extraordinary.

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Ava, available from £400 per sqm

- Ava is inspired by Ceppo di Gré, the original stone from the Lombardy region that stands out for its rough appearance, but in a warmer design not found in nature, perfect for Mediterranean style design.

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Polar (floor) and Adia (tabletop), both available from £400 per sqm

- Polar reveals beautiful irregularities from the Spanish stone Campaspero, reinterpreted in a unique hyper-realistic pattern that combines an irregular base in beige tones with grayish and cream veins, small inlays, and fossils.

Cosentino - Dekton Pietra Edition in Trevi (floor and back wall) and Sandik (wardrobe walls), both available from £400 per sqm

- Sandik provides the traditional elegance of Campaspero in a softer finish, with a cream background and a subtle haze of gray tones, that performs extremely well for outdoor applications.
