Ideal for designers looking to create a visual link between different spaces, including interiors and exteriors, these tiles are also available as an 80 x 80cm outdoor version measuring 20mm thick.
Also part of the new Opificio collection are white body ceramic wall tiles, which can be specified in two modern neutral finishes of Ivory and Light Grey. They come in a 30 x 60cm format, measuring 8.5mm thick, and have a chic and sophisticated matt finish that makes them perfect for bathroom and kitchen walls as well as a diverse selection of commercial settings.

RAK Ceramics was one of the first in the world to adopt Continua technology in 2012 and the first to introduce large-format slabs in the Middle East with its pioneering Maximus product range. This initial step revolutionized the regional ceramics market and positioned the company at the forefront of slab innovation. Since then, RAK Ceramics has continuously expanded its slab portfolio, leveraging Continua to improve design flexibility, production efficiency, and digital capabilities.
The newly operational facility leverages Continua+ PCR 2180, one of the most advanced and efficient slab production technologies available today. This technology ensures high productivity with minimal material wastage and enables full digital synchronisation at every stage of production, allowing for precision and flexibility in manufacturing.
In a bid to enhance sustainability, the facility features a seven-layer horizontal dryer, designed to operate on total heat recovery from the kiln, significantly reducing fuel consumption while optimising energy efficiency. The new line is evaluated to be more energy efficient in comparison to current continua setup.
The slab production facility boasts state-of-the-art digital glazing technology, enabling the combined application of inks and materials. This innovation enhances design capabilities, offering high-definition patterns, deep digital structures, and advanced dry digital glaze/granule applications. Additionally, the facility incorporates multilayer granule application technology, fully synchronised with digital processes, ensuring uniform and seamless finishes across all slab productions.
RAK Ceramics has also introduced the longest European kiln in the Middle East, stretching 300 metres, reinforcing its high-capacity production capabilities. The facility integrates a smart scheduling storage system, incorporating real-time control and monitoring to enhance operational efficiency. A fully automated quality control system eliminates manual inspections by monitoring tiles at multiple production stages, ensuring unmatched product quality.
With the launch of its first-ever matting line for slab production, RAK Ceramics has standardised processes to maintain uniform finishes across various slab sizes. Additionally, the auto cutting line ensures consistency in customised product formats, optimising the production process.
The newly launched facility also features an automatic shrink hood wrapping machine, eliminating manual packaging processes and improving efficiency. Its advanced packing line supports multiple palletisation methods, including A-frames, L-frames, and wooden boxes, with a robotic arm for seamless logistics management.
With an annual production capacity of 4 million square metres, the facility is equipped to manufacture slabs in multiple thicknesses ranging from 6mm to 20mm, with a maximum size of 180x360 cm—currently the largest in the industry. Standard slab sizes include 162x324 cm at 12mm thickness, as well as 80x320 cm uncut slabs for countertops. To further enhance durability, mesh reinforcement is applied to all 162x324 cm slab productions.
The launch of this 100 million AED facility represents a strategic investment in the future of slab manufacturing, reinforcing RAK Ceramics' position as an industry pioneer. Leading bathroom and tile manufacturer RAK Ceramics is gearing up for Clerkenwell Design Week 2025, which is taking place from 20th to 22nd May, where it is set to launch the aspirational KLUDI brand into the UK market.
Founded in Germany’s Sauerland region in 1926, KLUDI has built up an enviable reputation for its innovative, high-quality kitchen and bathroom fittings. Over the last century, KLUDI has become synonymous with excellent designs that harmonise with functionality and its products have been globally recognised with numerous international design awards. To date, the company has recorded 170 inventions, 100 patents and 1,000 registered designs and, in 2022, KLUDI was named one of the ‘Top Innovators in Germany’.
Now, for the first time, products from KLUDI’s extensive kitchen and bathroom ranges will be on display at the inspirational RAK Ceramics Design Hub, which is centrally located at 100 St John Street, London.
One of the largest showrooms in the area, the two-floor Design Hub spans 7,276 square feet and has become an unmissable destination for designers, architects and specifiers looking for fresh innovations that push the boundaries of kitchen and bathroom design.
Throughout the inspirational three-day event, visitors to the Design Hub will have the opportunity to see the quality as well as the breadth and depth of the KLUDI range, which offers a complete bathroom solution spanning freestanding bathtubs, shower trays, sanitaryware, furniture and accessories in addition to its market-leading brassware.

Partnering with interior architect May Fawzy of MF Studio, RAK Ceramics supplied surfaces and sanitaryware for use throughout the newly built Country Club. Making first impressions count, large format Calacatta Gold tiles feature in the venue’s main entrance and reception area.
“The selection of finishes was meticulously aligned with the original brief, emphasizing the creation of a premium space for club users,” explains Fawzy. “We carefully handpicked materials and textures that not only met our aesthetic aspirations but also embodied enduring quality.”
RAK Ceramics surfaces feature throughout the location, from the RAK Revive floor tiles in the lavish spa and shower rooms and nature-inspired flooring in the bar and restaurant to RAK Detroit metallic finish tiles in the pool area and changing rooms and porcelain flooring and countertops in the golf shop.
Sanitaryware from the leading brand also features, with the designer collection RAK-Petit floorstanding washbasins featuring in the WCs and the public bathrooms all finished with RAK-Precious basins teamed with matt black brassware. “Our objective was to source products that seamlessly merged aesthetics with durability,” continues Fawzy. “We pursued a minimalist design infused with a touch of opulence, a quest that led us to the exquisite offerings within the RAK Ceramics collection.”
Commenting on the finished project, the club’s General Manager, Ben Evans, says: “The new club was created for the Cambourne community, which until now has lacked anything like it in terms of leisure facilities. It’s quickly become a go-to lifestyle destination for our members and their families.”

RAK Ceramics helps to build marvels, with its products featuring in some of the most iconic buildings in the world, from the Burj Khalifa in Dubai to the 02 Arena in London.
This competition encourages entrants to celebrate that prestige through a creative design proposal.
- Put together a design proposal for a physical piece of art that you will make, using products from the RAK Ceramics Surfaces catalogue and/or Bathroom catalogue. - The artwork size must not exceed 1m wide x 2m tall. - The theme of the artwork must be inspired by ‘We Build Marvels’ and RAK Ceramics would like it to celebrate the origins of the brand. - Make sure the proposal is detailed and demonstrates originality, innovation and creativity. - Submit your design proposal using the online form by 12th April 2024.
RAK Ceramics will announce three finalists on 12th April 2024. If you’re a finalist, you’ll be sent the proposed materials and will have a 4-week window to make your art. You’ll then be invited to bring your art to the RAK Ceramics Design Hub before Clerkenwell Design Week (21st to 23rd May 2024).
The winner will be chosen during the event and the winning piece will be displayed in the window for three months. In addition, the winner will receive £1,000, with 2nd place getting £300 and 3rd place getting £200.
1. All entrants must be aged 18 years or above. 2. All entrants must be UK-based. 3. All entrants must be either a current student in further education or someone who has graduated within the last year. 4. Entrants cannot be associated with RAK Ceramics in any way. 5. All entries to be submitted by 12th April 2024 via the online form. 6. The judges are looking for an original idea in the proposal. Please do not submit a piece of work that is a copy of another artist’s image. 7. You can use other materials for your art, but RAK Ceramics products must be predominantly used and celebrated. 8. By entering this competition and if chosen as a finalist, you must be able to transport your piece of art to the RAK Ceramics Design Hub in London before Clerkenwell Design Week 2024 – and agree to it being on display. It will also be photographed for promotional purposes, such as social media.
