The beauty of bespoke kitchen design is that it is entirely yours. It’s more than just picking out cabinets and worktops; it’s about designing a space that complements your life, surpasses your expectations, and adds those small daily indulgences that make home life feel exceptional. Even on a drizzly Monday morning with a full day of work looming.

Be it a cosy breakfast nook bathed in gentle morning light, drawers that glide shut with effortless grace, or an elegantly designed wine room to cradle your cherished collection, every element is crafted with you in mind. At Roundhouse Design, we believe true luxury is found in personalisation, where masterful craftsmanship intertwines with boundless creativity, ensuring every corner of your kitchen feels purposefully curated and enduringly exquisite.

Discover why bespoke kitchens remain the gold standard in luxury living.

Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do

Craftsmanship lies at the very core of every luxury bespoke kitchen. This isn’t about uniform units churned out by countless factory lines with scarcely a human touch. It’s about the artistry of time-honoured joinery techniques, meticulously hand-finished surfaces, and detailing that only skilled artisans can achieve. That’s not to imply we’ve shunned modern manufacturing technology at Roundhouse; our Malvern factory is equipped with some of the most advanced machinery in the industry. Concurrently, our approach remains deeply human-focused, drawing on traditional hands-on expertise that no robot can currently hope to replicate.

Our newest bespoke wine room exemplifies crafted perfection. Thoughtfully designed and meticulously crafted to exact specifications, it features striking, black-framed glass doors that reveal exquisite joinery, ambient lighting, and specialist finishes. Whether you’re an avid collector or enjoy hosting guests, bespoke wine storage offers a personal and elegantly crafted statement within your home.

Craftsmanship goes beyond just aesthetics; it’s about functionality and tactile experience. Drawers glide effortlessly on precision runners, cabinet doors align perfectly as they close, and every surface feels robust and substantial. True craftsmanship is a daily luxury you can both see and feel.

Individual details that make you smile

One of the joys of bespoke kitchen design is the ability to incorporate personal details that make you smile every time you use them. In the kitchen, this could be a breakfast pantry complete with a built-in coffee station, bespoke spice drawers tailored to your preferred selections, or dedicated larder drawers labelled for each family member.

At Roundhouse, we collaborate closely with our clients to grasp how they live, identify the little indulgences that spark joy, and discern what they’re content to forgo. There’s no standardised approach here and that’s exactly what makes your journey enjoyable.

Bespoke is beautiful

With bespoke kitchens, it’s not just the exterior finishes that deserve attention – the interiors can be every bit as beautiful. Every Roundhouse project is tailored to your wants and needs.

Take our fitted wardrobes as an example. Concealed behind refined doors, you may discover soft-close drawers lined with luxurious leather, built-in watch charging stations, and subtle mood lighting that gently illuminates upon opening.

The same applies for the kitchen: think pull-out storage with integrated lighting, and beautifully veneered internal drawers that look as good open as they do when closed. By tailoring storage solutions to your needs, we ensure your space reflects who you are.

Roundhouse Design

Practical Personalisation

Luxury bespoke isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s also about smart problem-solving. Our design team loves finding ways to solve tricky design challenges. A concealed extractor seamlessly tucked within a custom hood, cabinetry artfully angled to complement a sloping ceiling, or ingenious approaches to tricky corner spaces, each design element is thoughtfully crafted to suit the distinctive character of your home. Such meticulous personalisation guarantees that your kitchen and fitted furniture remain practical, functional, and a delight to use.

Made for you, to order

Every Roundhouse bespoke kitchen is made-to-order in our own Malvern factory. This allows us to control quality at every stage, from concept to completion. Our talented designers work hand-in-hand with our experienced project coordinators and skilled craftspeople to ensure every detail is perfect. From start to finish, every cabinet, drawer, and worktop is crafted to meet your exact specification.

Why is bespoke design synonymous with luxury?

Bespoke kitchen design is about creating a space that reflects who you are and how you want to live. That requires expert craftsmanship, thoughtful details, and practical solutions. Every project has you at the heart of it; designed around you, made for you, and fitted with expert precision.

Premium appliance manufacturer, Miele is proud to have upgraded all of the 60cm dishwashers in its collection (including within its G 5000 and G 7000 ranges) to energy efficiency rating A - with no effect to retail price.

With this upgrade to its range and almost 100 years of experience in dishwashing, Miele stands out in a leader in energy efficiency. With the comprehensive portfolio update of the G 5000 series, maximum energy efficiency is now available in all price ranges, meeting the most important purchasing criteria for consumers.

Miele

The completely redesigned successor models for the entry level G 5000 range achieves top marks for energy efficiency, with an optimal balance of reduced power consumption and adjusted programme running times and temperatures. Meanwhile, the AutoOpen automatic door opening function, which was previously only available on higher-priced models, plays a particularly important role. This function deliberately switches off the heating phase at the end of the washing programme to significantly reduce energy consumption. At the same time, the door opens slightly, allowing targeted air circulation to remove any residual moisture naturally and providing optimum drying performance. This feature also prevents any damage to kitchen cabinetry fronts - vital in ensuring the long-term durability and aesthetic appeal of surrounding furniture surfaces.

Miele

As an additional convenience feature, the upgraded models in the G 7000 range offer the AutoDos automatic dosing aid with integrated PowerDisk. This measures out the correct amount of powder granules precisely, reliably preventing under or overdosing, therefore ensuring consistently high cleaning results. What’s more, models in the G 7000 range that were already QuietMark approved will continue to hold this accreditation.

Miele

“Sustainability is part of our basic setup - even in the entry-level class, where we’ve actually achieved leaps in energy efficiency of up to three label classes,” says Dr. Michael Junker, Senior Vice President Business Unit Dishwashing at Miele. “Our goal was to establish environmentally friendly dishwashing as a basic expectation, not as an optional extra. Our revamped dishwasher range offers a compelling overall package that combines energy-efficient washing programmes and functionality with an attractive price-performance ratio.”

Miele

As with all Miele dishwashers, the updated range has been tested to last for 20 years - further demonstration of the brand’s commitment to quality. With a portfolio that is even more consistently focused on resource conservation and efficiency, Miele once again emphasises that sustainability is more than just an energy efficiency label, also evident in Miele’s responsible use of resources throughout the entire life cycle.

About Miele

All Miele appliances are designed to enjoy a long lifespan, have a strong focus on sustainability through efficiency and innovative features, and further enrich your kitchen with timeless looks.

As a champion of both innovation and elegant functionality, Zip Water was proud to take part in the 2025 edition of WOW!house at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. This year, the HydroTap Arc Plus featured prominently in The Gathering Bar - a soulful and sophisticated bar space designed by Toni Black, Director of Luxury Interior Design and Partner at renowned hospitality design studio, Blacksheep.

A collaboration with the equally fabulous SHEPEL, a family-owned, London-based furniture manufacturer, the interior design reflects a shared ethos: combining timeless quality with performance to elevate the modern home.

Creating Connection Through Design

“The Gathering Bar is the new heart of a home; a space where connection, conversation, and culture come together effortlessly. More than just a bar, it is a place of warmth and welcome, where stories flow as freely as the drinks are poured.” – Toni Black, Blacksheep

Set within the immersive WOW!house environment, The Gathering Bar reimagined the home bar as a cultural hub, one that paid homage to storytelling traditions passed between generations of women. Inspired by heritage yet grounded in contemporary living, the bar championed layered textures, comforting tones, and modern utility. At its centre was the Zip HydroTap Arc Plus, a refined, sculptural addition that underscored the bar’s seamless blend of aesthetics and function.

Enhancing the Experience with Zip HydroTap Arc Plus

Chosen for its sleek silhouette and advanced technology, the HydroTap Arc Plus was the ideal complement to Blacksheep’s design vision. Providing instant boiling, chilled, and sparkling filtered water from a single, beautifully engineered tap, it supported the rhythm of entertaining with both style and substance.

Designed to meet the needs of today’s dynamic interiors, the HydroTap Arc Plus features:
- A minimalist arc-shaped design that integrated effortlessly with high-end materials and finishes
- Intuitive controls and a streamlined under-bench command centre for seamless operation
- Sustainable performance, with energy-saving modes and advanced filtration that eliminates reliance on bottled water

From preparing cocktails and hot infusions to effortlessly serving sparkling refreshment, the HydroTap elevates hospitality in the home, offering not just convenience but also design-led appeal.

A Shared Commitment to Design Excellence

Zip Water’s inclusion in WOW!house 2025 marked a continued commitment to supporting the design community through innovation, collaboration, and quality craftsmanship. The partnership with Blacksheep, a studio globally recognised for emotionally rich design environments, demonstrated how contemporary appliances could integrate naturally into even the most atmospheric of residential settings.

For Toni Black, functionality was non-negotiable in a well-designed space, but never at the expense of mood or story. The HydroTap Arc Plus, with its refined visual language and ease of use, reflected this philosophy. It allowed the bar to feel both lived-in and luxurious, a place of intention, ritual, and welcome.

Redefining the Role of Water in the Home

As home environments continue to evolve into hybrid spaces for work, wellness, and social interaction, solutions like the HydroTap Arc Plus offer a refined way to stay hydrated without compromising on design. Increasingly, consumers are seeking technologies that contribute to healthier lifestyles while also enhancing the aesthetic value of their homes.

The HydroTap meets these expectations by delivering advanced filtration and multi-functional drinking water in an award-winning design. Its integration into WOW!house served as a reminder that performance-led innovation can also be beautiful, intuitive, and emotionally resonant.

A Tactile Future

WOW!house was more than an exhibition: it was a tactile journey through the future of interior design. For Zip Water, the event was an opportunity to place hydration at the heart of the home in a meaningful and inspiring manner.

From its sculptural profile to its sustainable performance, the HydroTap Arc Plus speaks to the next chapter of home design; one where intelligent technology, wellness, and human connection work in harmony.

With Versi Liberi, the refined customisation of “custom made” encounters the immediacy of “ready-made”.

The Dedar offering of placed motifs for backrests, seating and cushions facilitates the introduction of a highly impacting expressive element to interior projects. A classic of the textile tradition has been radically reinvented to become a contemporary icon of style.

The Versi Liberi fabrics for backrests and seats come in pieces measuring 70 x 90 cm. They present exclusive new designs executed in embroidery or complex printing techniques on textural grounds from the Dedar collection. Poised between abstract motifs, figurative references, and subtle astral evocations, they lend themselves to the interpretations and uses dictated by personal flair and inspirations. By responding to the requirements of each interior design project, they enable it to express a new language. In terms of performance, they are inspired by the principle of practicality, ensuring peace of mind in normal conditions of use.

Yume & Riptide
Ad Astra & Yume

Versi Liberi enables the creation of coordinated chairs, armchairs and other furnishing elements in a way that is simple yet endowed with a strong personality. It emphatically reinvents the traditional textile genre of the placed motif, by combining its refinement and expressive vigour, while inviting it to join the contemporary design scene. In the flowery tradition in vogue from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries, the chairs of a room played the same narrative role as a tapestry; their sequence revealed a mobile and detailed illustrated story. In the pieces of Versi Liberi, the same narrative logic is reinterpreted in a contemporary key and applied to semi-figurative and abstract designs. In this way, a set of chairs recounts a story packed with movement and strongly imbued with personalisation, amidst slightly staggered motifs, repositioning, changes of distance and arrangements. Hence the start of a lively little jam session, ready to embrace ever new interpretations.

Nebula & Campo Dei Fiori
Nebula

Thanks to elaborate embroidery and printing techniques, which confer a pronounced three-dimensionality, the fabrics of Versi Liberi add great character to the interior décor project. Personalisation and an intense expressive power create great energy. Even the choice of just a few pieces enables a special and unmistakable mood to pervade the interior. The fabric will transform any piece of furniture: on the Louis XVI armchair it grafts a note of modernity; when used on a piece of contemporary design, a special touch will come to the fore, making it quite unique.

Driven by Dedar’s vocation for discovery and interchange, a walk down memory lane has led to a most contemporary idea. The certainty of today’s savoir-faire and manufacturing precision supports a mingling of materials, knowhow, and diversified references. A personality of modern inspiration and a profound textile expertise, the art of embroidery and the chromatic intensity of printing come together in an “intimate blend”. These fabrics interpret the artistic gesture and suggest new perspectives; ever changing and precious variations generate interiors of unmistakable taste.

Parola

Parola: Minimalist Calligraphy on Raffia

Soft graphic strokes capture the essence of thought and words in an oriental calligraphic motif. Gentle three-dimensional shapes in wool form a compact fringe embroidered with meticulous care, while the empty spaces of the Didgeridoo raffia and linen ground confer breathing space to the entire composition. The visual contrast is harmonious: the natural luminosity of the ground embraces the matt wooliness of the motif. The embroidery, executed using the velvet stitch technique, is fruit of mechanical precision and an artisanal sensitivity requiring time and great care for a result that is always unique. Used in different directions or off-center, the motif lends itself to free interpretations for backrests, decorative seating applications and cushions.

Yume: Ringlets Embroidered on Raffia

Soft white clouds float in a land of dreams. They are lavish wool curls that surface on a raffia and linen ground, that of Didgeridoo, in a billowing, embracing tangle. A harmonious contrast delights the eye and hand: the luminosity of textural raffia embraces the softness of matt wool yarn. The embroidery, executed on the back of the fabric using the curl stitch technique, is fruit of refined artisanal skill, requiring time and great care for a result that is always unique. Used in different directions or off-center, it is ideal for backrests and cushions and lends itself to bolder applications for decorative seating.

Yume
Campo Dei Fiori

Campo Dei Fiori: Vibrant Strokes of Colour on Textural Weave

Rapid and colourful brushstrokes sweetly animate an abstract field of flowers: the vibrant strokes capture the artist’s spontaneous gesture, leaving a vivid trace on the canvas. As they gradually dissolve away from the dense center, the embroidered motif of wavy lines in different thicknesses and directions express themselves freely on the textural and luminous ground of Aristotele. The 60,000 random stitches overlap, mixing and varying in intensity five vivid colours in a palette of soft and contrasting shades. Used in different directions or off-center, the motif lends itself to free interpretations for backrests, decorative seating applications and cushions.

Ad Astra: Stellar Embroidery on Raffia

On gazing at the celestial vault: a glimpse of infinity provokes marvel and vertigo. Essential lines form an abstract motif, while embarking on an unexpected course. With over 50,000 cord embroidery stitches, this highly three-dimensional embroidery embellishes the textural raffia ground of Didgeridoo, while enhancing the nuances of green played out between vivid and deep colour tones. Used in different directions or off-centre, the motif lends itself to free interpretations for backrests, decorative seating applications and cushions.

Ad Astra
Riptide

Riptide: Wavy Embroidery on Textural Weave

A flowing uninterrupted gesture, like the dense paint the artist vigorously pours onto the canvas: the creative impetus leaves a vivid and vibrant mark. The double embroidery interlaces with fourteen metres of trimming which, using the Cornely technique, is applied to Aristotele, a luminous and textural fabric enhanced by fine white lines. The skilled handiwork of the expert artisans ensures that the start and finish of the precious embroidery is cleverly concealed, while three-dimensional effects and delicate mottling animate the surface. Used in different directions or off-centre, the motif lends itself to free interpretations for backrests, decorative seating applications and cushions.

Nebula: Flock Constellation on Textural Weave

A silent nebula whispers in space, held in an embrace of the blackest dust: enraptured, the eye turns to the dancing heavens. A wash of velvety micro flock is applied to the textural and uneven ground of Aristotele, thanks to the meticulous artisanal technique of screen printing. The contrast is accentuated between the opacity of the pigment that stands out in relief on the ground of natural tones, whose weave confers a subtle three-dimensionality to the surface. Used in different directions or off-centre, the motif lends itself to free interpretations for backrests, decorative seating applications and cushions.

There are so many options when it comes to choosing a kitchen worktop. Lots of suppliers have created quick tables to compare the properties of different materials. But all these grids focus on the worktop and not on the client. At Athena Stonecare, we think that it is important to put design priorities at the forefront.

Athena Stonecare

Designing for beauty

When it comes to natural stone it is hard for any beholder to deny its beauty. Marble, limestone and granite have been formed over thousands of years. Even the most premium man-made versions cannot match the intricacies that nature produces. When you walk into a kitchen with a stunning marble island or glistening granite worktops it takes your breath away. If the island is to be the centrepiece of your client’s kitchen, then stone is the natural choice.

Marble is often hailed as the premier choice for a luxury kitchen. If you choose marble for a kitchen worktop there is an array of colours to choose from. It is also guaranteed that the chosen piece is completely unique. You might not realise, that there is also an abundance of choice with granite. Although typically associated with darker tones, there is a plethora of tones and finishes available in granite that are just as beautiful as marble.

If creating a kitchen with wow-factor is your top priority, then you can probably stop reading here and book in a visit to your local stone supplier. However, it is usually only one of many considerations. How to maintain that wow-factor and continue to enjoy the beauty of natural stone is usually the next question. So, let’s look at that in a little more detail.

Athena Stonecare

Designing for practicality

Choosing to use natural stone for a worktop is an investment. We always think of it akin to choosing a luxury car. A brand-new Ferrari will be beautiful and shiny and certainly make a statement. But just like any car it will get dirty, could get scratched and it will need to be cleaned. However, you’re not going to take your Ferrari through the drive-through car wash. Instead, you will invest in specific products to clean it and have repairs completed by specialist.

We urge you to think of worktops similarly. If your client chooses marble, then they need to be prepared for the ongoing maintenance. Marble is acid sensitive and softer than other materials. This is particularly relevant in a kitchen. There’s no such thing as a self-cleaning worktop no matter what material you choose. But with marble it is important to use the correct products in the right way.

If, however, practicality is an important consideration, then marble might not be the best option. Lots of people prefer a kitchen worktop that requires a little less maintenance or that they can use with less concern about what they do day-to-day. With this in mind, granite is considered more hard-wearing than marble. It is usually denser and doesn’t scratch as easily. Granite is also not acid sensitive in the same way as marble and limestone.

If practicality is the no.1 priority, then man-made is the best option. There’s a huge range of brands that manufacture worktops to look like stone. Quartz has been a popular choice for low-maintenance kitchen worktops for a long time. These materials look like stone, but they don’t have the same qualities. This means that the products that you use to clean them don’t have to be as carefully considered.

Athena Stonecare

Designing for durability

Very closely linked with practicality is durability but the two shouldn’t be confused. Natural stone has been used in buildings for centuries so there’s no denying that it is durable. A marble or granite worktop won’t wear out. That doesn’t mean that it won’t wear though. And this is where the old cliché of beauty being in the eye of the beholder really comes into play. If your client wants a worktop that always looks perfect, then marble will need special care and even professional maintenance. However, marble can also be just as stunning when it naturally develops a patina over time. Many people are happy to live with the odd etch mark or scratch on their marble worktop and it’s still a statement in their kitchen. Enjoying the natural wear of a worktop is something that is completely personal.

Granite too is a great choice for a durable worktop. Being a little more hard-wearing than marble, means that you are less likely to experience staining and scratching that create that patina as described above. The other main advantage of granite is its restorability. Being a natural stone, means that the surface of granite can be repolished back to perfection. The structure of a man-made stone such as quartz means that this is not the case. If a granite worktop becomes dull or is damaged, then we can use diamond abrasives to bring it back to its original condition making this stone an incredibly durable choice for a kitchen worktop that is beautiful too.

Designing for sustainability

The durability of stone is one of the factors that makes it also makes it a sustainable choice for a kitchen worktop. Ensuring that the materials chosen for a project will not need to be replaced is a key consideration if you are planning a sustainable build. There is also lots of evidence to support natural stone as being more sustainable to produce than man-made alternatives and our recent blog series explores this in more detail.

One of the huge benefits of stone that makes it sustainable once in situ, is its restorability. Marble, granite and limestone worktops can all be restored. If are aware of the ongoing maintenance requirements there is no reason that a marble worktop can’t be enjoyed for many years without needing professional restoration. However, spillages do occur the great news is that stone worktops can be repolished and refinished back to their former glory. And what is more, it will never go out of fashion. No matter how many times a kitchen is redecorated, the marble or granite worktop will always fit in. Natural stone is timeless and with the right know-how its beauty really can endure.

Athena Stonecare

Tucked away in Hainburg, in the quiet midst of the countryside, Villa Karolinenhoff beautifully blends architectural heritage with contemporary living.

Surrounded by a working farm and a peaceful orchard, the villa sits at the heart of a rural estate dating back to the early 20th century.

The property was bought in a neglected state and has since been carefully repurposed to create a working farm. A multipurpose property, Villa Karolinenhoff is now used for bee keeping, crop production, and sheep and poultry farming, as well as a prestigious commercial venue to host social events such as weddings, and an impressive home for the owners.

Whilst preserving some of the original elements of the Villa including the stone staircase, ironwork of the railings, and interior doors, Architectural Workshop Collegium, and Katarína Lupták led a back-to-brick renovation, restoring and reworking the heritage elements of the property that became the inspiration for the Villa’s overall aesthetic.

A carefully considered selection of Croft hardware was specified throughout the Villas’ various floors and engrossing rooms.

The Library:

A room promoting relaxation, the library features soft, dusty sage cabinetry complimented by the warmth of wooden internals and backlighting.

Finishing off the cabinetry in a contrasting colour is the 1403 Pleated Edge Pull in IBMA, providing an elegant aesthetic and additional grip.

The Kitchen:

Painted in a unique, muted mauve, the kitchen displays hints of earthy undertones, giving it a modern and sophisticated look yet still complimenting the overall aesthetic of the Villa.

Showcasing the 1401-50 Linear Cabinet Edge Pull in a Polished Nickel finish, this simple handle design sits subtly on the cupboard’s edges, adding an element of quiet luxury.

Door Levers:

Throughtout the property, the Celeste lever on a 65mm Raised Edge rose adorns the generously sized doors, in an Autumn Bronze finish providing contrast to the neutral colours of the doors, wall and panelling.

Autumn Bronze, a rich and warmly textured living finish with an array of brown and red undertones. Over time, the finish develops a soft patina through use, gradually revealing the metal beneath, creating a stunning aged effect which beautifully complements the rich heritage and preserved character of the villa.

The features of Croft throughout the Villa add quiet detail and consistency across a range of spaces. From the attic-level living area, to the four double bedrooms and private bathroom, each piece was chosen not only for its function and feel, but for how it will age gracefully over time alongside the property itself.

Villa Karolinenhoff stands as a testament to considered design and shared values. It's a home where every element has been carefully chosen, not to shout, but to support a story of timeless, understated beauty.

British flooring manufacturer Amtico has added nine new floor designs to Designers' Choice, its ready-to-specify luxury vinyl tile (LVT) collection that is specially created by the in-house design team. The seven new combinations of laying patterns and LVT products translate three macro trends - Restorative Spaces, Soft Utilitarian and Nostalgic Reset - into design-led, high-performance floors for commercial projects.

Designers' Choice is curated by Amtico's designers, they have combined precision cut laying patterns with Woods, Stones, Colours and Abstracts from the Signature collection, carefully chosen and influenced by the team's research into colour, material mix and spatial trends.

"Designers' Choice distils months of research into palettes and combinations that are balanced, beautiful and instantly usable," says Sarah Escott, Design Manager at Amtico. "This year, we've leaned into the emerging trends for Restorative Spaces, Soft Utilitarian and Nostalgic Reset, blending Woods, Stones, and even Burnished Metals to give specifiers and designers impactful floors in an easy, 'off the rack' solution."

Amtico - Designers Choice, DC633, Lune Small
Amtico - Restorative Spaces Moodboard with llmington Stone, Ratley Stone, Waterloo Concrete

Nostalgic Reset shows in the retro styling of: DC633 Lune Small in Packwood Stone and red wine-hued Stucco Roselle, the sculptural semi-circle design is playful yet sophisticated. DC630 nods to vintage patterns with Check in oversized Tay Oak squares - pair with a gold stripping border for added elegance. DC629 pairs Chantilly Weave in a bold two-tone Bordeaux Oak and Buxton Oak design to re-energise the heritage weave pattern, making it perfect for boutique lounges and bars. DC631 is a classic black and white Check in statement Bianca Classic Marble and Nero Classic Marble. DC635 is a throwback to mixed wood grain floors with a Small Parquet laying pattern in five tones from cool, scandi-inspired Wharncliffe Oak to warm, golden Rotterdam Oak.

The Soft Utilitarian design works beautifully as a rug feature or zoning, the hyper-realistic Metal's pearl pigments and clever layering create the illusion of real weathered metal, providing a dramatic contrast to the Darley Oak. DC636 is a five-Wood design in Large Parquet, featuring a layered mix of rustic oaks for social, multi-functional spaces, such as hospitality and build-to-rent, with a Soft Utilitarian feel.

A Renewed Focus on Wood

Wood has always underpinned Japandi’s warm simplicity. In 2025, Roundhouse Design’s team is embracing wood’s individuality more deeply than ever by celebrating unusual grain patterns, textural effects and considered installations. A recent project named Bulpitt showcases bookmatched crown-cut oak veneer that stretches across handle-less push-touch cabinets, creating movement and intrigue. By highlighting the tree’s natural heritage, a luxury bespoke kitchen feels both grounded and inviting. To discuss how wood can shape your bespoke Japandi kitchen, book a design consultation with Roundhouse experts.

Soothing, Layered Palettes

Early Japandi schemes favoured strict monochromes; today’s interpretations layer warm whites, stone tones and earthy accents such as terracotta, clay, bronze and copper alongside muted greens like sage and moss. These richer, more balanced colour stories allow kitchens to flow effortlessly into open-plan living areas, reinforcing Japandi’s holistic approach to home design.

Flexible, Streamlined Storage

Functionality meets form in 2025’s storage solutions. Timber-lined drawers with bespoke dividers, removable cutlery trays and floor-to-ceiling glazed cabinets featuring fluted glass and timber frames marry practicality with refined aesthetics. Walk-in larders and pantries concealed by sliding shoji-inspired doors keep clutter at bay, nurturing the zen-like calm that defines modern Japandi kitchens.

Precision Craftsmanship

As throwaway culture gives way to lasting quality, Japandi’s commitment to enduring construction resonates strongly. Roundhouse Design kitchens fuse time-honoured British joinery with precision engineering by combining frameless cabinets, soft-close mechanisms and integrated LED lighting to promise years of whisper-quiet, reliable performance. Every kitchen is backed by a 10-year guarantee, ensuring peace of mind and true longevity in home design.

Sustainability at Every Step

Environmental responsibility lies at the core of Japandi and of Roundhouse Design. From concept to completion, sustainability informs every decision: sourcing only FSC-certified timber, partnering with The Woodland Trust to support UK reforestation, and operating a biomass-fired factory that repurposes offcuts to minimise waste.

To bring Japandi to life in your home, download the brochure, book a design consultation or visit one of Roundhouse Design’s seven showrooms in Wigmore Street, Clapham, Fulham, Richmond, Cambridge, Guildford or Cheltenham to experience these ideas firsthand.

Planted Community is proud to announce a new partnership with global design and BIM software provider Vectorworks to launch Design for Regeneration, an exciting UK-wide student design competition seeking to champion the next generation of regenerative designers.

Undergraduate students from across the country are invited to submit work for the Design for Regeneration competition, which reimagines the built and natural world through regenerative design.

The competition is open to students studying architecture, interior and landscape design, furniture, product and industrial design. The winner will receive a £1,000 cash prize, a one-year subscription to Vectorworks Design Suite, and a two-night stay in Planted’s luxury off-grid cabin at River Cottage, Axminster.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Vectorworks on Design for Regeneration, a competition that will showcase the very best in emerging British design talent,” said Planted co-founder Deborah Spencer. “It provides a vital platform for young creatives to demonstrate how regenerative thinking can shape a healthier, more sustainable future.”

“We are committed to nurturing new approaches that centre nature and sustainability at the heart of design, helping to safeguard the planet for future generations.”

Projects will be judged on creativity, innovation, material choices, aesthetics, and crucially clear regenerative intent. The panel will look for designs that not only minimise harm to natural ecosystems, also actively contribute to their restoration and renewal.

As a leading platform for sustainable design, Planted connects people, businesses, and ideas through events, content and collaborations that promote nature-based solutions and regenerative practices.

Deborah Spencer, whose career began at New Designers held at the Business Design Centre and who later founded the award-winning designjunction before co-founding Planted will lead a distinguished judging panel. The panel includes fellow Planted co-founder and former Sunday Times journalist Sam Peters, biophilic design expert Oliver Heath, and River Cottage CEO Stewart Dodd.

Entries must be submitted by Wednesday 31 July 2025. Finalists will be announced in early September, with winners revealed at the Vectorworks Design Day conference at the Royal College of Physicians in London on Tuesday 14 October 2025.

“At Vectorworks, we believe the future of design lies in regenerative thinking that not only respects but actively restores our natural world,” said Tyler French, Vectorworks Academic Marketing Manager.

“We’re proud to support Design for Regeneration in partnership with Planted, a leading platform for sustainable design that shares our commitment to driving positive change. Together, we aim to empower the next generation of designers with the tools to shape a more regenerative built environment.”
