While trends in bathroom design may not change as rapidly as fashion, bathroom manufacturers are still tasked with staying ahead of the curve. With this in mind, Roca presents its take on the freshest inspirations, colours, and looks for bathrooms. This is partly in response to the trends set at this year's Salone del Mobile in Milan. Moreover, it serves as a summary of how Roca plans to incorporate these ideas in the upcoming year and beyond, especially within its new Tura collection.
The essence of the Mediterranean is making waves in bathroom design, infusing a fresh, timeless elegance into these formerly purely utilitarian spaces. This trend captures the region's vibrant culture, rich history and stunning natural beauty, transforming everyday areas into luxurious sanctuaries of relaxation and style. This transformation is achieved, in part, through the use of natural materials that not only provide durability but also add warmth and texture, creating a welcoming environment. Mediterranean-inspired colours also play a crucial role, with shades of blue, white and terracotta reminiscent of the sparkling Mediterranean sea and its sun kissed landscapes.
Mediterranean-inspired bathrooms often feature large windows, skylights and lush house plants. This design approach blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, enhancing the sense of tranquillity and openness. This ambiance directly influenced the design of the Tura collection, which draws inspiration from how Mediterranean light filters through the shutters that shade Spanish windows. As an homage to this, wooden slatted shelves were included in the Tura furniture.
Renowned for its warm, earthy tones, terracotta is a prominent trend in modern bathroom design, offering a perfect blend of aesthetic appeal, practicality and comfort. One of the greatest strengths of terracotta is its versatility. It pairs beautifully with a wide range of colours and materials, including whites, greys, greens and natural woods, allowing homeowners to create a harmonious and cohesive look. Its warmth also helps to create an inviting and relaxing retreat - and with this in mind, Roca introduced Light Terracotta as a signature colour for the Tura bathroom furniture.
This year's bathroom design trends are embracing soft lines and rounded shapes, marking a shift towards more organic, fluid aesthetics that promote relaxation anc harmony. Elements such as oval mirrors and circular basins are integral to this trend, as they reduce the harshness often associated with modern, angular designs. The freestanding bath in the Tura collection is a good example, as its softly curved shape creates a generous and comfortable interior.
Incorporating curves can also create the illusion of more space. Unlike sharp angles that result in visual barriers, curved lines guide the eye smoothly around the room, enhancing the perception of space, which is particularly beneficial in smaller bathrooms. Furthermore, the biophilic design trend, which seeks to connect interior spaces with the natural environment, also drives the popularity of curves. Nature rarely features straight lines, and by incorporating organic shapes, designers create spaces that feel more natural and inviting.
In a world where stress is omnipresent, neutral colours help create a spa-like, tranquil atmosphere in the bathroom. Shades such as soft whites, warm greys and gentle beiges promote relaxation and a sense of well-being. In addition to Light Terracotta, the Tura furniture is available in calming shades of Off-White and Light Noble Grey.
Neutral colours also provide a versatile backdrop in the bathroom, enabling homeowners to update accessories and fixtures without affecting the overall colour scheme. This adaptability is especially appealing to those who frequently refresh their decor. The Tura collection accessories exemplify this trend, as their neutral colours derive from their natural composition - recycled felt storage boxes and recycled cork lids, which also function as basin shelves.
Roca's Tura collection is available now and comprises a Stonex® freestanding bath; ceramic basins, WCs and bidets, available in Gloss White, Supraglaze® White and Matt White finishes; and furniture in Off-White, Light Noble Grey and Light Terracotta.

Vescom introduces an innovation in sustainable embossed wallcovering. The first of its kind to be released in Europe, Purefin is an environmentally friendly olefin wallcovering with the proven performance and durability benefits of hardwearing materials.
In today’s busy world, the right materials can transform interiors of any kind into quiet, comfortable and healthy spaces that both feel good and do good. There’s a growing need for alternative interior materials that take a bold step forward in sustainability and durability. The olefin-based wallcovering is free of PVC, plasticisers, chlorine, heavy metals, formaldehyde, halogenated fire retardants and phthalates.
This unique material asked for a unique identity. Vescom Purefin wallcovering comes in two embossed designs that have a distinctive natural, chalky, matte look. ‘Undesigned’, not over-designed, they have an artisanal, hand-crafted appearance.
Rough and rugged yet achieving a peaceful ambience in interiors, Concreed reinforces its concrete and clay influences with its natural palette: six neutral tones that call to mind chalk, travertine and kaolin. Inspired by traditional plant-based weaving materials, such as flax, raffia and rattan, linen-like Lynn has nine natural colourways, from crisp linen to soft hemp to dry bamboo.
Produced in the Netherlands in line with Vescom’s holistic approach to sustainability and wellbeing, Purefin has a reduced carbon footprint, better environmental impact and leads to improved indoor air quality due to its low VOC levels, promoting healthier environments.
Purefin is the latest addition to Vescom’s Sustainable Materialogy story: materials with a common ground for a common good. Vescom offers a diverse toolbox of highperformance materials for architects and designers to find the right solution for each specific project. Each wallcovering, upholstery and curtain fabric has its own materialdriven identity, benefits and approach to sustainability, providing specifiers with various ways to achieve their desired interiors while making eco-conscious choices.
About Vescom

The Myers Touch is delighted to announce that eggersmann’s masterpiece kitchen island launch SKYWALK’®, officially launched at Milan’s international EuroCucina 2024 Fair, is now available at their Winchester kitchen design studio.
Driven by a passion for bringing extraordinary concepts and materials into the kitchen, eggersmann constantly creates special detailed solutions. The design of the SKYWALK’® island reflects their architectural approach to kitchen design, as it defies gravity with its unexpected, cantilevered structure and angled LED under-lighting. Made entirely of solid natural stone, the SKYWALK® island showcases luxury materials such as burnished or bronzed brass, granite, and Taj Mahal leather quartzite which are meticulously cut by their skilled craftsmen and set onto the stone in hexagonal-shaped pieces to create a striking visual statement in any modern home.
The island’s design has a cantilevered design structure which appears to be floating in the air with a discreet glimpse of the structure’s natural stone set between the two island elements. The SKYWALK® design achieves this floating effect through a cantilevered structure with a central support that provides both stability and space for essential installations such as an integrated hob, sink and tap.
In addition to the SKYWALK® island is the SKYWALK® wall cabinetry also available in a range of superior finishes. This innovative design has options to include hidden pocket-door storage, integrated appliances and eggersmann's recently launched Depot sliding door system which allows the user to hide the sink area when not in use to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of a space.
The Myers Touch partnership with eggersmann answers their client's desire for a premium German kitchen brand that offers innovative design, luxury material finishes and premium craftsmanship, enabling their expert design team to incorporate texture, personality, and individuality into their high-end residential kitchen projects for homeowners and architects. Eggersmann’s range of superior-quality cabinetry can be matched to designs available in a range of materials such as marble, textures, grain and gloss finishes, to create kitchens that are perfect in the balance of form and function.
Eggersmann also offers flowing transitions from kitchen architecture to living concepts such as room dividers, shelving systems and units so their design team can create the most sophisticated, luxury interior schemes.
The Myers Touch is eggersmann’s UK retailer in the Southwest region. The studio’s first Eggersmann display within the showroom features a large, contemporary central island with a cantilevered-style concrete finish worktop. Complementing the concrete finish are Twill veneered mitre-edge door fronts that are adjacent to a bank of light oak Eggersmann cabinetry with integrated, fully functioning Gaggenau appliances. A second eggersmann display is due to be installed in the Winter of 2024.

Charlie Smallbone’s designs can be seen throughout this Kensington home, where he and the Ledbury Studio team were tasked with creating furniture for several spaces. Harnessing a style his client coined as ‘Australian Scandi’, Charlie designed beautiful and harmonious pieces for the kitchen, dining area, TV snug, home office, utility room and hallway.
Reoccurring themes such as the use of pale oak, fluted finishes, brass handles and marble countertops tie the rooms together. As such, far from being a collection of rooms under one roof, the spaces are united by the warmth of the materials and the pleasing lines of finely crafted bespoke furniture.
Highlights of the kitchen include natural and painted oak cabinetry, which has been book matched on the drawers, as well as fluted on the outside of the island. All the handles are patinated brass, as are the kickplates, furniture surrounds and the sculptural brass hanging structure above the island.
Over in the dining area, the enviable drinks cabinet ties in with the kitchen design, featuring fluted oak and glass, along with a Statuario marble worktop and panelling. The glass cabinet is lit from within to create a display of the contents, while the open shelves have a mirrored panel behind to reflect the displayed bottles and decanters. An eye-catching wall-hung fluted TV cabinet continues the aesthetic at the other end of the room, in the TV snug.
Stunning floor-to-ceiling cabinetry ensures the home office downstairs is kept clutter free and takes advantage of the high ceilings. The furniture, like the kitchen design, features fluted oak doors, an internally lit fluted glass cabinet and hand-made patinated brass handles. However, to create a contrast with the oak, Charlie chose walnut for the desk and lower section of the cabinetry. A lovely detail is the burnt orange leather inset on the desk, the colour of which is mirrored in the orange paint finish at the back of the fluted glass cupboard.
In the hallway on the lower ground floor, furniture has once again been used to make the most of the space available. Here, Charlie designed a boot area with racks and built-in seat, plus floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and cupboards to store all outdoor wear in one place. Once again, fluted oak and brass handles unite the design with the spaces upstairs. Meanwhile, there are pale oak cabinets in the compact utility room. These have been teamed with a rich but practoical ombre quartz and complemented by deep green tiles in the cloakroom.
About Ledbury Studio
Charlie Smallbone needs little introduction. The founder of iconic brand Smallbone of Devizes, he has been pushing the boundaries of kitchen design for over 40 years. Charlie’s latest venture, Ledbury Studio, was born of his desire to harness the beauty of original materials whilst creating practical kitchens that exude style and elegance.
Gemma Mouton, Director at Forbes & Lomax has given her insights into the industry. Forbes & Lomax has been producing elegant, innovative light switches and sockets for over thirty-five years. Renowned for launching The Invisible Lightswitch®, it has always approached lighting control from an aesthetic point of view. The Forbes & Lomax collection comprises nine carefully chosen finishes, which are suitable for traditional and contemporary interiors, making it the brand of choice for many top interior designers, architects and decorators. The range includes push buttons and dolly switches for integrating with intelligent lighting control and home automation systems. It also offers a bespoke engraving service. Visit the showroom at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.
Founder, Serena Herbert had been working as an interior designer on a prestigious project that included specialist paint and papered walls. Around that time the elegant glass fixtures of the 1920s and 30s were no longer available and the market was dominated by bulky, plastic switch plates. As a response to this, The Invisible Lightswitch® was launched. From there, the range grew to include a variety of metal finishes suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
In the past, lighting hardware had been an afterthought, however we believe changing details like light switches, dimmers and sockets can transform an interior design project. Our collection of switches and sockets instantly smarten up a space. When using wallpaper, a fabric wallcovering or specialist paint effect The Invisible Lightswitch® and Painted socket blend seamlessly into the background.
Increasingly, there has been a focus on the importance of lighting in interior design projects. Over the 20 plus years I have been working at Forbes & Lomax, I have witnessed how lighting controls have evolved. Our British manufactured products offer clients complete control over their lighting at home from the most basic on/off function to pre-programmed lighting scenes. We know not everybody is in favour of the more contemporary style keypads that accompany smart light systems and with our momentary range of light switches, our customers can maintain a traditional, classic look with the technology hidden behind the scenes.
We work extremely closely with interior designers. They are amongst our most cherished client relationships. Our sales managers often attend site visits and are very much part of the lighting planning stage of projects. Most recently, we have welcomed groups of KLC students to our new showroom at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour for tutorials and an introduction to lighting control. We’re thrilled to be an SBID Accredited Industry Partner, as we very much look forward to connecting and building relationships with the new generation of interior designers.
Our new showroom at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour has been our most significant venture from the past year. The 70 square metre space has given us the opportunity to show our collection in full and interact with a wide customer base from both the UK and international markets. Not only do we use the space as a showroom, we also host training events, hold talks in collaboration with lighting consultants and welcome our interior design clients to have their meetings there.
Clients are increasingly requesting bespoke switch plates, whether it’s customised engraving or a made-to-order one off plate. These are services we provide as part of Forbes & Lomax Bespoke. With our bespoke engraving service, clients can customise their light switches to denote the function of each button or toggle, which is particularly popular when used in conjunction with a smart lighting system. Custom-made plates provide a solution where space is limited or where a particular socket and switch arrangement is required. In this instance, a client would work closely with a member of our sales team to create a bespoke plate to suit their needs.
We believe there will be a continuing focus on sustainability and British manufacturing. Our processes are under constant review to ensure they align with our environmental goals. We are proud to retain our long-standing British heritage. All our manufacturing is in the UK.
We are excited to be launching our Smart Wi-Fi Rotary Dimmer this year. With the Wi-Fi rotary control, you can operate your lights using a smartphone or app, such as Alexa or Google Home. The rotary dimmer is simple to retrofit and will replace an existing dimmer switch with ease, as there is no need for additional wiring. The Forbes & Lomax Smart Wi-Fi Rotary Dimmer offers maximum convenience as you can change the mood of your lighting from multiple locations in the home. It allows you to update your home automation system with an aesthetically pleasing light switch.
We are proud to be an SBID Accredited Industry Partner. It means a great deal to us to be part of the community promoting the interior design profession. Our values align strongly with SBID’s high standards for quality and professionalism and we look forward to connecting with SBID’s present and future interior designers.
