RAK Ceramics is excited to unveil the RAK-Batu collection - an exquisite range of washbasins that draws inspiration from the enchanting aesthetics of Bali, seamlessly blending them with modern design principles.

The mere mention of Bali conjures images of natural beauty and distinctive decorative styles, reflecting a profound connection with nature that has become increasingly sought after in today’s interior architecture.

RAK Ceramics

With their simple lines and innovative 5mm slim edges, RAK-Batu washbasins achieve a minimalist look while ensuring high durability - a perfect synthesis of design and functionality.

The RAK-Batu washbasins embody this vision, incorporating elements such as light, air, neutral shades, and natural materials like bamboo, straw, and palm fronds. These features create inviting interiors that foster sociability, contemplation, and harmony with the surrounding landscape.

Crafted with a unique artistic glaze that incorporates Muscovite mineral particles, the RAK-Batu collection is available in three shapes - Round, Oval, and Rectangular - offering a total of nine stunning products. Each basin infuses the bathroom with a natural, tropical ambience while maintaining the sleek, minimalist aesthetic of contemporary design.

The collection is further enhanced by three stunning finishes: Mica White, Mica Warm Grey, and Mica Cool Grey. When combined with natural materials like wood, stone, and rattan, RAK-Batu transforms the bathroom into a warm and inviting oasis, echoing the allure of an exotic destination.

RAK Ceramics

For ultimate versatility, RAK-Batu washbasins can be paired with the RAK-Plano, a seamless single slab that can be drilled and cut as needed during installation, allowing for maximum freedom in positioning basins and taps.

Karndean Designflooring, the UK’s leading supplier of luxury vinyl flooring, is forging ahead with its Karndean Evolve® sustainability strategy after receiving approval of its near-term targets from the Science Based Targets initiative.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a corporate climate action organisation that is developing standards, tools and guidance to help businesses set appropriate targets, has announced that it has independently assessed and approved Karndean’s near-term science-based emissions reduction targets.

Fleur Carson, managing director at Karndean Designflooring, said: “Karndean was founded on innovation, bold action and a pioneering spirit and we are still guided by these ideals today because the future demands change. Tackling key environmental challenges and protecting the natural world have become major considerations for the construction industry so we are proud to be taking a leading role in the building of a greener future.

“Our Karndean Evolve® strategy explains how we will reduce our environmental impact through continual improvement and outlines how we are integrating the principles of sustainability across our global operations. We have taken a science-based approach to setting ambitious yet achievable targets to reduce our carbon emissions and it is highly gratifying to receive validation of our approach from the SBTi.”

Karndean Designflooring

Having set out its 2022 baseline for greenhouse emissions from all sources in its Karndean Evolve® Sustainability Report 2023, including those controlled directly, indirectly and via third parties, Karndean Designflooring has committed to reduce absolute greenhouse emissions controlled directly and indirectly by 42% by 2030 and from end of life treatment of its sold products by 51.6% by 2030. In addition, it will aim for 62% of its suppliers to commit to science-based targets by 2028.

Jamie Shaw, global head of sustainability at Karndean Designflooring, said: “Joining the SBTi is a key step toward the success of our Karndean Evolve® strategy as it ensures that our planned climate action is in line with the latest science. With this knowledge we can be confident that our goals are in line with the 1.5C trajectory confirmed necessary by the 2015 Paris Agreement. Achieving this third party endorsement demonstrates our commitment not only to taking bold action but also to being open and transparent as we make progress.”

The ® strategy outlines how the business is reducing its environmental impact and sets out its future plans in six key focus areas: confronting climate change, individual health and wellbeing, sustainable resource use, inclusion and diversity, supply chain transparency and education.

To confront climate change through increased energy efficiency and renewable energy, Karndean has developed a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from sources it controls directly, indirectly, and through third parties (known as scopes 1, 2, and 3, respectively). This plan includes further investment in solar power across its property portfolio, constructing new buildings to achieve BREEAM Excellent accreditation, transitioning to lower-emission fleet vehicles, and increasing recycling opportunities to support a circular economy.

Cosentino, global leader in sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, announces the launch of its new Le Chic Bohème by Silestone®XM collection. Le Chic Bohème’s four new low silica colours further showcase how Silestone brings high aesthetics and unparalleled details to the world of design. Expanding on its initial collection launched in 2023, the new Le Chic Bohème collection embodies the luxury aesthetic and superiority of Cosentino’s leading hybrid mineral surfaces.

Cosentino - Le Chic Boheme by SilestoneXM in Riviere Rose, from £300 per sqm

The essence of Parisian style and bohemian flair comes to life with Le Chic Bohème by Silestone®XM, a collection with elegance at the fore. The collection features four new colours: Jardin Emerald, Rivière Rose, Château Brown & Blanc Élysèe, all with sophisticated veining and nuanced patterns that bring distinguished depth to designs. Cosentino - Le Chic Boheme by SilestoneXM in Chateau Brown, from £300 per sqm

A collection born from innovation and sustainability, Le Chic Bohème strengthens the advancement in Cosentino’s surface manufacturing, as the detailed veining requires an all-new system of design. The intricate, interlocking veins are made possible by a full-body molding system featuring integrated veined design across the entire surface and thickness. This enables full continuity of the veining through finishes on edges and recesses, whether curved, die-cut or milled cut, allowing designers and architects to create luxurious spaces with authenticity.

Cosentino - Le Chic Boheme by SilestoneXM in Blanc Elysee, from £300 per sqm

The real sustainability comes from Cosentino’s patented Hybriq+® technology. Le Chic Bohème is manufactured using 99% reused water and 100% renewable energy, incorporates a minimum of 20% recycled raw materials in its composition and contains less than 10% of crystalline silica belonging to the category introduced this year, Silestone®XM.

Cosentino - Le Chic Boheme in Jardín Emerald - Swatch

Jardin Emerald - Thanks to a sophisticated pattern of golden veins with metallic accents and black and cream color notes, Jardin Emerald reinvents the natural beauty of exclusive green marbles, creating a versatile finish with great graphic depth.

Cosentino - Le Chic Boheme in Riviere Rose - Swatch

Rivière Rose - A sea of taupé and blush pink veins bring personality and vibrance to a warm white background. Rivière Rose pays homage to the whimsical patterns of ocean waves as they break on the coast of the French Riviera.

Cosentino - Le Chic Boheme in Chateau Brown - Swatch

Château Brown – An elegant dark brown featuring a subtle marble finish, Chateau Brown is filled with light thanks to reflections of metallic pink-copper and bronze veining. A daring composition that connects earthy tones and on-trend design.

Cosentino - Le Chic Boheme in Blanc Elysee - Swatch

Blanc Élysèe - A delicate lattice of golden, gray, and copper veins run through a bright cream background that evokes the timeless elegance of classic Parisian palaces.

Why do we love modern country kitchen design so much? Put simply, we’ll never tire of the classic lines and warm hues that make country kitchens so enduring. These are versatile bespoke kitchens too. And whether you live in an urban pied-a-terre or a rural cottage, modern country kitchen designs are a great choice. Even super contemporary, minimalist homes can benefit from the soft, cosy and comforting silhouette of modern country bespoke kitchen design. So if you’re in the mood for a luxury kitchen design that will never date, let Roundhouse show you how.

Discover the key design tips of a modern country kitchen design and fall in love with this classic look all over again…

Choose heritage hues for luxury kitchen design

You won’t go far wrong with a neutral palette when it comes to modern country kitchen design. Think warm shades of buttermilk, off white and vanilla for light and inviting bespoke kitchen design with a little touch of French country flair. Alternatively, why not add a little drama with a darker shade. We work closely with Farrow & Ball and Little Greene to offer a huge selection of colours for our Design bespoke kitchens. Meanwhile, our Studio collection includes statement-making Indigo Blue, Forest Green and Graphite Grey – perfect for modern country kitchen designs big or small.

Roundhouse Design

Mix fitted and freestanding in bespoke kitchens

Adding freestanding pieces to bespoke kitchen design is an expert-proof way to create the modern country look. A standalone kitchen pantry cabinet or dresser for example instils instant country charm into any layout. Our freestanding furniture can transform your luxury kitchen design and embrace an artisan craftsmanship that Roundhouse is so proud of. Because everything from Roundhouse kitchens is manufactured to order – and that includes our freestanding Brompton and Nightingale cabinets. Roundhouse Design

Use natural materials in country kitchen design

Natural materials such as timber, marble and metal are a signature look of modern country kitchen design. Here at Roundhouse we work with a mix of high quality materials and warm textures to create bespoke kitchens to suit your space. Try walnut veneer mixed with antique brass accents or a beautiful marble kitchen island. This bespoke kitchen design in a barn showcases book matched oak veneer offset with a patinated silver. Natural beauties that need nothing else…

Roundhouse Design

Cook up a storm in country kitchen design

Cooking is a big event for the modern country kitchen. So a robust range cooker should be top of your shopping list in country-inspired bespoke kitchen design. Go for a professional-style range in slick stainless steel with sturdy handles and matching steel wall racking. Or take a more vintage mood in luxury kitchen design with a colourful stove in enamelled yellow, cream, red or racing green. Finish off your Roundhouse kitchen with rows of gleaming copper pans, chunky cookware and great food.

Roundhouse Design

Focus on Farmhouse fixtures

Choose a large double bowl kitchen sink in chunky ceramic to set the tone in country bespoke kitchens. Belfast and Butler sinks won’t just add masses of style to your Roundhouse kitchen, they are perfect for washing bulky pans and large oven trays. Pair with a beautiful wall-mounted pot filler oozing with rustic charm. Pick a design in brushed nickel, copper or brass. And look out for an extendable arm so you can fill up kitchen pots and pans quickly and conveniently.

Roundhouse Design

Don’t neglect kitchen design details

Details count. So for the modern country bespoke kitchen design, try tongue-and-groove panelling, tactile surfaces or a chic tiled splashback. Dark oak floorboards look striking against white and neutral kitchen storage cabinets. Or try pale timber in a chevron style pattern to add a touch of modern rustic cool. Glazed door fronts add a light welcoming touch while exposed brick walls create the perfect modern rustic backdrop. This is how to do modern country kitchen design for twenty-first century living.

The GAIL’s Bakery Headquarters project blends sustainability with functional design, using Tarkett’s eco-friendly flooring like carbon-negative linoleum and recyclable carpet tiles. The project delivered durability, ease of maintenance, and a welcoming aesthetic that aligns with GAIL's brand. The adhesive-free installation further supports environmental goals, showcasing how thoughtful material selection can deliver both style and sustainability.

Tarkett

Background

GAIL’s, a popular bakery chain with over 140 locations across London and the surrounding areas, is known for its commitment to using natural ingredients and sustainable products in its baked goods. So, when GAIL's required a new office for its headquarters that could also function as a bakery, academy, and development space, it was crucial to create a multi-functional space that reflected the brand's culture and energy.

Tarkett

The Vision

The goal for GAIL’s HQ, located at Hawley Wharf in Camden, was to create a new space that was inviting, without feeling too corporate and would be environmentally sustainable in every possible way. This would be achieved with Object Space Place by adopting a brand-led utilitarian design that consisted of exposed concrete columns and ceilings, along with warm-crafted elements, and sourcing only natural and sustainable materials.

Tarkett

Why Tarkett?

GAIL's has been using Tarkett safety floors for a while now and has installed them in around 20 locations. However, one of the main challenges of this project was to create an environmentally friendly, multi-purpose headquarters using natural materials and sustainable products. To address this challenge, Tarkett was chosen to provide the flooring for the project. As a leader in sustainable flooring solutions, Tarkett focuses on producing products that have a minimal environmental impact and can be recycled at the end of their life. Additionally, many of these products are made from natural materials and are Cradle to Cradle Certified®.

Tarkett

Products Used

Tarkett provided a mix of flooring solutions for this project, including carpet tiles, linoleum, and vinyl safety floors. DESSO Retrace 100% recyclable carpet tiles, which have an impressively low Circular Carbon Footprint of 1.27 kg CO2/m2 and EcoBase backing, were installed throughout the first-floor office space. Safetred Serenity vinyl safety floors were installed on the first floor and the ground floor, where safety was of utmost importance. This multifunctional and circular product helped to reduce the environmental impact of the space by requiring adhesive-free installation and being fully recyclable at our in-house recycling facility in Kent. The project also incorporated recyclable post-use Etrusco Linoleum and Style Emme Linoleum, which are made with up to 97% natural raw materials and are carbon-negative from cradle-to-gate. These two products were chosen for select spaces on the first floor and the ground floor, where extreme durability, easy cleaning, and cost-effective maintenance were the main concerns.

Tarkett
Tarkett

Results

The use of Tarkett's sustainable flooring solutions helped to create an environmentally friendly space that embodies the culture and energy of the GAIL's brand. The flooring solutions are durable and low maintenance, which is important for a high-traffic office space. The mix of materials used in the design has helped to create a unique and eclectic look that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Tarkett's commitment to sustainability and circular economy has helped create an environmentally responsible and socially conscious workspace that reflects GAIL's commitment to high-quality products, traditional methods, and sustainable practices.

Tarkett

The People Behind the Project

“We have used natural materials wherever possible, like cork on the walls and linoleum on the floor. All the flooring has come from Tarkett, who are pioneers when it comes to sustainability and circular economy. These materials all have a very low environmental impact and Tarkett can recycle them at their end of life too.” ― David Chenery, Director at Object Space Place

“It was a pleasure working with the entire team to outfit GAIL’s Bakery’s new sustainable headquarters. We collaborated closely with the GAIL’s and OSP to select a beautiful flooring solution that aligned with their commitment to eco-friendly design. The final result is a warm, inviting space that showcases their brand while prioritising environmental responsibility.” ― Ben Campbell, Senior Workplace & Hospitality Consultant at Tarkett

Skopos Fabrics

It's all about balance

As a business we are setting our goals high in order to substantially reduce our Carbon emissions over the next 2 decades, however we recognise that, as a manufacturing business, though there are many steps we can take, we still need to find the balance in managing the carbon we do emit. Our measures of our current position help us to find initiatives which balance out our effect and take full responsibility for our operations.

About Skopos Fabrics Ltd

Skopos has over 50 year's experience of supplying innovative statement fabrics and soft furnishings into flagship hotels, marine interiors and other commercial spaces. Working globally with designers and specifiers, the Skopos brand thrives on innovation. Skopos fabrics deliver on style but also meet the needs of customers looking for technical assurance and key attributes, such as acoustic options, impervious upholstery fabrics, antimicrobial and blackout; providing a fabric-only, or made-to-measure and installation service. Accredited as a Carbon Neutral organisation in 2023, sustainable operations go hand in hand with the development of new recycled products and the use of local suppliers.
