DESCRIPTION:Mailbox by Design is a series of design and architecture events that brings together leading industry professionals based in the West Midlands. \nAlternative Thinking – the work of K4 Architects \nBob Ghosh RIBA\, Founder and Director talks about the practice’s philosophy and unique approach to design. Their diverse portfolio is set within the context of cities\, market towns and remote rural settlements\, all with the common thread of Complexity. \nThe narrative focuses on a number of case studies\, which explore how historic layers are used to inform interventions and reinforce identity of place. Included will be the Beech Gardens project in Ludlow\, Shropshire\, which is shortlisted for this year’s RIBA Regional Awards. \nThe event will take place at Home at the Mailbox\, Birmingham’s premiere destination for interiors and homes that houses brands including Heal’s\, Calligaris and Made.com. \nDrinks and refreshments will be served from 6pm and over the course of the evening. To celebrate this rich and diverse community\, Clerkenwell Design Week has created a showcase of leading UK and international brands and companies presented in a series of showroom events\, exhibitions and special installations that take place across the area. \nActivities run over the duration of the three-day festival and follow a distinct trail north to south from Spa Fields down to Farringdon. \nIntegral to the festival are the local resident design showrooms who partner with Clerkenwell Design Week to create a diverse programme of topic-led events including talks\, workshops and product launches. SUMMARY:Designs From the Past\, Inspiration for the Future (CPD Talk and Tour)
DESCRIPTION:Interested in textiles and prints? If so\, join this CPD talk and guided tour on the origin and history of the Textile Design Archive held by the John Lewis Partnership in their Heritage Centre based in Maidenhead. Starting at 11am on each of the dates below\, this talk focuses on historic textile printing techniques\, the work of reputable designers and how these have inspired more recent designs and products.
