As designers we believe need to return in a very small way the enormous gesture and high price paid by our armed forces.
Following a life-changing injury, some military personnel need to adapt their homes for day-to-day use. SBID and our responsible members would like to assist in this process by working with the six amalgamated military charities of The Soldiering On Through Life Trust. Firstly we will identify the challenge then design the solution, specifying only the most ethically designed and manufactured products, created by the best brands and designers around the world.
We will consult on and adapt heroes’ homes to help adjust to the many challenges of day-to-day living.
The recipient of the SBID package will have their story filmed and broadcast to the selected guests at the prestigious annual Soldiering On Awards ceremony. The SBID package will provide solutions through innovation and help our heroes live full lives.

Improvements in legislation and law for disability or building control regulation are be achieved when designers review real problems faced by real people. SBID, along with our industry partners, manufacturers and designers, provides solutions for those living with disability. The case study will provide valuable feedback directly to government ministers who endorse campaigns for change and support Soldiering On Awards. In turn this will improve delivery for all: manufacturers in their design, designers in their specification and end-users in functionality experienced.
