The Executive Board is the heart of the organisation, responsible for policy setting and steering SBID’s direction. All decisions made by the Board are based on the latest research and feedback from the industry stakeholders and consumers.

Dr Vanessa Brady OBE
Interior Designer and Founding President

An internationally recognised award-winning practitioner with over 30 years of experience, she regularly speaks on business development and finance overseas on behalf of the UK government for the creative industries.

Niall Trafford
Chief Operating Officer at BRE Group

Niall has significant operational experience in retail and management. In his previous role at Marks & Spencer, he was involved in developing the company’s approach to sustainable retailing in the built environment.

Alex Brownless
Co-Founder & Director of Arts Thread

Textile Design graduate Alex has worked for retailers such as M&S, Banana Republic and Gap. As Co-Founder of Arts Thread, the world’s only creative graduate network, Alex has helped hundreds of creative graduates gain employment worldwide.

Diana Celella
President Elect

Diana is the Chairman of the SBID healthcare Council. As Director of her own practice, with 30 years’ experience in both residential and commercial sectors, her specialism is healthcare design.

Gerald Bowey

Gerald Bowey is the Chief Executive Officer of International Building Press with over 40 years’ experience in business-to-business marketing communications and brand awareness for sectors such as industrial relations, insurance and instrumentation to architecture, property and the built environment.
