The event will be hosted by Peter Murray, Director of New London Architecture Gallery and Past President of IBP, and the twelve categories include News Reporter of the Year, Young Journalist of the Year, Magazine of the Year and the overall IBP Journalist of the Year.

The Awards recognise excellence in journalism in architecture, construction and property since 1980, and offer great prestige to the winners. The level of writing is exceedingly high this year and SBID’s role as judge will be tough with Rory Olcayto of Architects’ Journal, Eleanor Young of RIBA Journal, and Steve Parnell of Architects’ Journal all shortlisted as Architecture Writer of the Year.

Vanessa Brady, SBID President, will hand over the Architecture Writer of the Year to one of the three finalists at Chelsea Football Club, Stanford Bridge, alongside the evening’s Guest of Honour, Jonathon Porritt, Founder Director of Forum for the Future.

Commenting on the change of sponsorship of the Architecture Writer of the Year Award, Gerald Bowey, CEO of IBP, said: ‘We are delighted that SBID have agreed to host this category, formally sponsored by Sidell Gibson Architects, now hosting the Housing category. The Society is renowned for its passion of high standards in all aspects of the industry, which reflects the importance of high standards of good journalism necessary to be nominated for an Award.’

IBP was founded in 1969 and since that time has provided a unique forum for national, regional, business and technical journalists, and press relations professionals involved in the construction, architectural and property sectors.
